My Top Personal Achievement in Cycling for 2010 is...

When you race against about 10 women in Cape Town League then a top 10 isnt very good and same for Argus, MTB races and so on......

That's why these threads don't really work around here, it becomes a trill swinging contest.

My best achievement, I managed to get up from the soft sand after taking a nice gentle lie down on the beach next to the Braamfontein Spruit during a hub ride

uncalled for comment bpayne........

at least she has something to be proud off, and that is enough for her. What does it matter what you and others think of it or how you rate her achievement.

Was your only need to join thehub (only recently) to just make uncalled for comments? (I spotted a hostile tendency in a lot of your posts) I was under the impression that this thread is for sharing individual achievements and reaching set goals, and luckily there is some well mannered folk on here that congratulate said individuals on their reached goals. If an overweight guy who never rode a bike in his life starts cycling and finish an Argus in 6h30 or whatever he has achieved his goal, if a seasoned rider trained relentlessly through the year and PB'ed in 2h45, also he has reached his goal....'atta boy to them both. No need for trashing personal goals here....its rude

'Atta boy (and girls) to everybody who reached their goals in 2010!!!!

.....and don't touch me on my studio :D

Yeah i would love however to hear what bpayne achieved besides finishing the 30km Argus MTB race in 4 hours flat............. Jealous much are we?

My personal milestones reached during 2010:

  1.
  2. Completing my first Attakwas (and first mtb race over 100km)
  3. Re-discovering my love for XC, and doing 4 big xc events.
  4. Quit road cycling
  5. More surf and swimming time with the road bike out of the house
  6. Built my first bike up from scratch(all previous bikes were bought complete)
  7. Riding TransBaviaans with my girlfriend's father and two time cancer survivor
  8. Watched Germany vs Uruguay in the soccer world cup.

2010 was another good year

Indirectly, after 6 years, many many many mountain bikes races all over SA, from the Cape to Sabie, Pietermaritzburg to Jhb, to George etc etc., ten's of thousands of rands later - don't even want to think how much i spend on bikes, traveling, accommodation and related costs , my son eventually got his first SA mtb title this year. I feel i also achieved something in supporting him all these years, through thick and thin, tears and disappointments and eventually the JOY of been a supportive father, when he achieved success!!

Well done to you and your youngster

Been there with my son and IMHO it's the best grounding you can give, he has turned out a well balanced happy 20year old young man!

Hang in there Onetime, we'll all be thinking of you.

My top achievement this year was finally sorting out my knee problems and getting back on the bike to do various awesome mountainbike races throughout the year and doing the DC nine years after my first and last one in 2001 before I stuffed up my knees.

Having my last chemo session 23/12/2010. Hopefully the last one in my life. This has been my second round of fighting after having been in remission for 22 months.

Get strong soon... ^_^

Did the 320Km charity event on 6 Dec (Drakensberg to Durban), but with only 3 weeks training, and yet felt very strong!

Last year I trained for 3 months and yet battled from about 150Km onwards.

Less is clearly more!
