For FORKS-sake

Recommended Posts

Just a small post to clear up some TECHNICAL DETAILS FOR MTB DUMMIES 101:

FORK: Large two pronged [forked !!] object found between FRONT wheel and the NUT that holds the Handle Bar.

(Unless you ride a Cannondale - in which case one whole side is missing)

Can be found on both FULL SUS and HARDTAIL MTB species. :)

SHOCK: A small tube shaped object connecting the bum end [seat] of the bike to the REAR wheel area. Making for more comfortable 75+ km rides.

NOT found on HARDTAIL MTB species. :(

Hope that clears up the issue and makes for more accurate SEARCH options.

PS: For those who have never ridden a LEFTIE - having only a single 'prong' to your FORK makes it really difficult to fix a front tyre flat - STAY AWAY !

MORE on UPPERS, LOWERS and STANCHIONS to follow.

so all cars have cannondale forks up front, and normal shocks at the back?

hotdamn, it's the samething.. but, i understand teh OPs frustration. Since it's an industry norm when referencing the two components, might as well follow suit.

Welcome to The Hub.

You're going to have a right royal time to sort out terminology here.

Some okes have got bikes with front and rear forks.

Some think a rim is a wheel.

Some okes complain about noisy Avid breaks.

Some have developed some pompous name for the right and left side of a bike....something like drive side and non-drive side.

Give them gas

@ GREATWHITE

Not at all. I joined The Hub for many reasons. I joined Rant and Rave for the abuse.

@Nikolais (Nicholas). The post related to 'terminology' not spelling. Its not even worth starting on spelling.

Fotunately, when one googles hydrolic, google in its cyber wisdom asks - Did you mean HYDRAULIC? - prob solved.
