Kevin pay somebody?

Can not imagine that in my lifetime. ABSA or the Sponsors will fit the bill if money is to be paid.

Yup, I have dealt with him with regards money / epic, before I'm flamed!

The same thing, no?

The EPIC is becoming a farce and the circus; that is OneBall, will make it even more of a money making racket. The Epic and LA deserve one another.

All I wish for Christmas is that the fervour & energy with which the likes of SwissVan & Dangle believe that LA is good for cycling yadda yadda yadda.... that they would channel that wasted energy into stopping cyclists jump red lights, ride single file and f00kin' (oops) moderate da Hub!

Happy Holidays to you; all of you....the sweaty unwashed masses !

Be safe.

What is wrong with you, or do you always get other people to do your dirty work for you ?

Secondly, what have you done for the sport of cycling lately ?

He is retired form the sport and now makes money out of showing his face. He does not make any money out of cycling anymore. He is retired.(AGAIN) I base my assumptions on him about the millions of articles about him. I have chosen the side I want to be on and I think he is a big headed prick.

Can he not just be a regular Joe who wants to experience this 'untamed and magical' mountain bike experience ?

And if some charities could benefit from it, why not ?

Quite honestly, I don't care what a prickly pear he might be or what a tjop he might be, he has certainly earned enough status in life for people to speak about him and for the average layman in our sport to know who he is.

(Not you SC101) :D

All the L.A. haters out there, do people know you, have you made an impact on the sport, have you earned enough status for a totally unknown Cape Town yuppie to flame you ?

And no, the league races and a few hundred followers in Twitter doesn't count.

Because of who he is I don't think he can be a regular joe and just experience it. Also because of what he has become. Why could he not just pitch up and do it? Why is it news around the world? He has become what he is because of whom he is. I merely stated the race is going to be a pain because of him. That is what he has become because of his personality and achievments.

Was the Argus a pain because of him? I doubt races like Leadville were a apin because of him.

argus us always a pain. its not just him

(edit this is not for TW), but the rest of you happy christmas spirit feeling folks)

BUT, you dont like the guy? so what! You dont like taxi's either. Seperate your emotions from his personality and jealousy.

No matter what your opinion of the guy he raised the profile of cycling all over the world. And he made alot of money doing it, and continues to make loads of money. Good for him.

I wonder if the winner who out sprinted Armstrong when he pulled his brakes will also be at the 2011 Epic.

Pulled his brakes?

You mean the rider that past him when Lance went in for the sprint too early, turned the corner, wind hit him in the face and blew a head gasket.

Good old Malcolm Lange hasnt won over 1000 races in his career for nothing.

He is probably one of the best sprinters out there.

With all this been said, I am not a Lance hater or lover.

I respect the guy for his accomplishments. Even though he doped, He was still the best in the world in his hot days.

I do also feel that his presence here will be good for our country, we really need someone like him to come and ride our local races to encourage other international teams to come venture down here as well.

Otherwise our country will remain off the international cycling map forever.

Yes, maybe he is making money from coming here, but if you look at the bigger picture we are all benifiting a little the more he comes to SA.

I want to see cycling become a living room sport as rugby or soccer is in our country.

But without a chain reaction effect of some big influence like above that is unlikely to ever happen.

Maybe all the attention means a live broadcast?

My thoughts exactly! Would be helluva frustrating knowing that Burry and Kev is fighting it out with Lance and not be able to see what is going on!

They'll have to up the coverage if Lance is here!

This all still seems very speculative? It's not a done deal that he's riding the epic is it?

1.Great marketing they used there.

2.Amongst the likes of Mc Ewan, Zabel............ I am sure he is.

I can't hep but wonder what news would be all over the World when ML decided to go and do Leadville.

aahhh - it never fails... mention lance and someone is bound to get their panties in a bunch.

It was a joke ffs.... The man will bring much attention to SA - just like he did at the Argus - this can only be a good thing for cycling in SA

I'm sure Lancie-pooh doesn't really need you hubbers jumping up and down protecting his good name when someone makes a joke about him

On what do you base your assumptions about me? You know nothing about me. I don't care what you call me. It is of no interest to me. For all I know you could be Lance's PA.

He is retired form the sport and now makes money out of showing his face. He does not make any money out of cycling anymore. He is retired.(AGAIN) I base my assumptions on him about the millions of articles about him. I have chosen the side I want to be on and I think he is a big headed prick.

My statement was that I wonder how he is going to ride the Epic when he thinks he can earn money for his face being on tv. The Epic is already way over subscribed. I cannot see Keving giving Lance any money for being in his race. I rode the Epic this year and as I said everyone was very friendly and good to be around. Even the big name riders. From what I gather about Lance he is going to make the race a media nightmare and probably harder for all the riders to just be there and have fun.

As for Lance still being interested in the sport I couldn't disagree more. He choses very carefully what he wishes to do and does it. Lance is only about money and nothign else. If you were on fire in the street he would see what he could earn out of it before he helped. That is my view of him.

LOL Top Fuel relax, I already agreed I know squat about you, other than what you have revealed through your post on this topic. That’s why I said I’m making an assumption and that it is probably wrong.

You base you opinions on LA even though you don’t actually know him at all (or do you?), all you know is what has been published on him. See the similarity to my assumption yet?

If it turns out to be a “media nightmare” then it’s the media and organizers fault, I think that if LA had any choice in the matter he would prefer to remain out of the medias eye and the related nightmares that come with all the attention.

I believe your way off saying he is not interested in cycling, no one does the things he has done and still does on bike without having an interest in the sport.

In all honesty I think were getting our tits in a knot about nothing, is he even going to ride the Epic this year?? Other than Horsemans OP there seems to be no evidence that he is going to ride. There were similar rumors last year if I recall correctly. And even if he did ride I doubt it would be to challenge for a win, well maybe in the vets category which would be a result of his fitness / endurance rather than desire.

Peace, tis the season of goodwill.
