Generally people tend to judge others with a different set of criteria to what they judge themselves.

We are never as bad or do things as badly as the other person does things.

That is true. I for instance am a prime example. I on the very odd occasion take calls on my cell and make "urgent" smss in the car, but when someone else does it I ride right up their ass and hoot and come past them about an inch from their mirror.

Then I drive down the road and once my temper subsides I wonder why in the world did I just do that.

So yeah, I guess many of us are very self justified.

Another example, I pull up next to this woman with a small child standing between the front seats. I look at her and indicate she should put a seatbelt on her kid and make her sit down. SHe ignores me. I hoot and her and tell her again. She tells me to fluff off and flips me a big bird. Now that is pride to its extreme. She would rather tell me to fluff off than swallow her pride and realize her child could be dead around the next bend.

One more story that really had a big impact on me at the time. Driving along the N2 at abouut 130km/h and needing to move into the left lane to take an off ramp. Long line of cars to my left so I accelerate to try and find a gap. Eventually I see a gap and put on my indicator to move in, the guy behind me to my left accelerates and closes the gap until I am forced to sort wait for him to pass and then push into the gap behind him.

So I pull up to him in the 2 lanes that are on the off ramp and ask him why he had to do that. He swears and me and tells me to pluck off and I am the type of guy who pisses people off. He drives forward and abouut a minute later I am next to him again. He winds his window down again and say, "listen man, I am sorry, I was wrong, I should have just let you in. Sorry! I was wrong."

Now that is something that I really respect. Someone who is able to say they are wrong and sorry, even after they have gone off the hook. Made me rethink things.

So maybe all of us must use that quiet moment that we might have between now and new year and reflect on those instances that we know we practised double standards and figure out how we will improve oursleves for the better of our families and communities for 2011.

I was stuck on the highway at the William Nicol offramp for 40 minutes the other day when the lights were out at around 5pm. I waited in a queue over 1km long while hundreds of tjops pushed in at the front. Most of them had to stop dead on the highway (in the straight lane) and try and push in over the solid line. Those tjops make my blood boil

Just imagine getting in to a road rage incident with this dude.

 If it was not for the T shirt (he would NEVER wear that) i would say that is BigH.

Is that not a camera on the helmet of guy with the yellow/red shirt on ? (could be wrong, eyes much older than 50yrs)

If it is and it was on then maybe the questions will all be answered.

That looks like Jan Olivier or Faantjie, from Speke cycling club. That little fur animal is an elephant, that has been zipp tied to his helmet.
