after i crashed, i bought those 661 race wraps. Perfect skidplate those wrist guards, really keeps your wrist locked up. Felt very weird initially. Also, they fit OVER the gloves if u have to wear gloves, so keep that in mind when it comes to size. Bit difficult to put on when wearing gloves though. Also found that where the velcroed ends meet, it's underneath the wrist closer to the palm of your hand, which can interfere somewhat with your grip on the bars.

Because of that little hiccup, I removed the plastic stiffener, and that helped quite a bit. I know removing the stiffener defeats the purpose somewhat, but in my case, the just the wraps alone helped stiffen up the wrists.

Then again, I did buy the guards to to act as anti-abrasion devices in case I crashed again while the stitches and various injuries were still healing ;)

I ride with 661 Wrist Wrap Race. They work very well and are comfortable once you get used to them, which happened quickly for me. I saw that the 2009 model is selling out for next to nothing (R50each) at CRC and they are good. You have to buy the left and the right hand ones separately as they don't come in pairs. (While you are at, consider geting some 661 Evo knee and elbow guards as well and see how your technical riding improves.)I cannot comment on the other makes, but as a brand, 661 is good.

I wear Elastoplast Neoprene straps with velcro ends on both wrists for Bmx and dj.They cheap and available from the pharmacy. Think R30 each.
