Thanks, this is a first for me. I've never seen it. Even their International catalogue doesn't show it. Did you buy any of these in ZA?

After a long wait and a lot of phonecalls I rocked up to my LBS to find one waiting for me. It worked really well for me. I guess it is like trying to source a set screw for a caliper, you have to know the right people.

I have mostly worked through a bikeshop in Germany when I need "exotic" parts like this. They can get anything and are super jacked. One of the mechs eventually got a job on CSC team. The guys know there stuff there so it is a pleasure dealing with them. Local Shimano guys do the basics and not very well I must ad. That's why I import all my goods because small things like a tool for big blade bolts take 10 weeks to arrive.

Comes with the 7900 chain I think. But the pins work better. Looks like the quicklink wears prematurely with dirty conditions. My chain has been making a horrible noise lately. Checked the chain wear, and it was stretched only over the quick link! Googled it and found a few other guys with the same problem.

The sexy DA cranks are definitely on topic ;)

Do I need to edit my post? ;) Or does your edited post resolve the off-topic issue?

Hmmmmm. Too late. How did you measure a change in length in the order of a fraction of a percent?

Using a chain-check tool. But you can explain the finer details to me when I come visit in about 2 weeks time with my new mtb frame to build up and my road bike for a service. I'll leave the Shimano 10-speed quick link on for you to see.

There was a roguemechanic youtube clip showing the quicklink riding high between sprocket teeth.
