Took a Tumble into the weeds :D :P

but yeah that is lucky, recon u could do some bad impaling to your body if you come off wrong and in the wrong place.

First time I went over them I was in the completely wrong gear (typical roadie heavier gear) and almost came pipe, lesson learnt

What happened to me was similar. I didn't carry enough momentum through the berm and put in a pedal stroke where the onramp levels out, the sus bottomed out and the crank arm hit the wood. The bike went one way. I went the other!

It's the bridge over the ditch on Space Junk that is my nemisis. Got careless and ate dirt in a royal fashion that day, hahaha!

Yesterday I almost gave reason for the first ER24 call. Jumped the big boy gap line at the dirt jumps. Front wheel hit the wrong side of the landing. That was almost me OTB at about 35kph and 3m in the air...

...thank goodness for plush big travel bikes :D

(Tumbleweed... I made it the next time though... without dipping into my medical aid savings, hahah)

But yeah... back to original topic. I spoke to Riaan. He said they'll be open on Tuesdays till 8pm for night rides.

I think that bridge has caught many out. If you don't land that pipe jump right, you're likely to go off the side of the bridge. :o

I was there last night and had an absolute blast! Definitely want to make it a weekly thing - night riding is a class of its own. whoo!

With regards to the guy who broke his leg - thumbs up to the cycle park for doing a great job at responding and calling for medical assistance   - and thumbs down to the first ER24 team that arrived and refused to go into the cycle park because they didn’t want to go into the bush! :thumbdown   - Luckily 2 more ER24 teams arrived and a fire engine all ready to respond.

Hope the guy has a quick recovery and finds himself back on the bike in no time!

yeah, I was highly ticked by the attitude of that first ER24 team. Not cool.

But yeah, by the end of the evening there were more emergency services people than bike park patrons, hahaha!

As I was leaving I even saw the Emergency Rescue 4x4 driving in. (A little too late though, the patient was well on his way to sunninghill).

But yeah, eventful evening!

I have no idea about the floodlights, I assume not much is flood lit, considering this is the first time they are doing it. I may be wrong though

hmmm... well I work about 1km from the bike park... just looked out the window and it's not raining, but it is looking a little gloomy.

Hopefully it holds out a bit for my after-work ride (I won't be night riding though)
