I'd also be interested in confirmation of the teams. I guess there'll no longer be different colour numbers now that there's only one Cat 1 GC?

For example, how do we know who's riding for the Daikin SV team vs. the Daikin Elite team? Same goes for Cyclelab, assuming they have Elite and SV teams?

Luke, my point exactly. Allthough there's only one GC, there's still prizes on the day for top 3 subvets. There should be some distinction I'd say.

Yep, there's also the team comp to think about - no point chasing down Elite team members... the SV's combined with a punishing set of hills is quite enough to worry about :P

So.....are the Elites and the Sub-Vets racing together, or are there now going to be separate starts?

sanity has prevailed... was not looking forward to 200 of us trying to ride up that concrete road.

Dear Pro Classic Series Rider,

Due to the number of entries received it has been decided to split Category 1 into two start groups, per age category, i.e ‘Elites & Junior Men’ and ‘Sub Vets’ as per previous seasons.

There will there for be a separate GC and Team Competition for Elites & Junior Men and separate GC and team competition for Sub Vets.

This new arrangement is only valid for the Category 1 riders.

Details on start times for the Sunday’s race will be sent to you shortly.

We apologise for the late announcement and any inconvenience caused.

The tours office closes tomorrow at 12:00, please send all further queries before then.

At least i wont have to race the damn Colonel anymore... he has the VAM of a seasoned TDF rider and the weight of a fart in a whirlwind.

I was thinking of where to put the pump I was going to have to jam in his spokes before the Navy climb slaughter.

There will be a few cat 2 riders that will be pissed off now. I reckon a few SV in cat 2 would want to move up to cat 1 now because SV still rides seperate. So nothing really changes from previous years.

Being 7kg overweight( :( ) i decided to enter cat 3. I think it will be fun. Really hope i can at least keep up on the climbs

I am also at least 7 over what I was 2 months ago. And probably 10 more than I need to be to be competitive at racing.

This christmas was faaarrr to good  With basically no exercise either.

I am pretty sad that I didnt know about this new cat last year after spring league, otherwise I would have kept on the bike and kept off the cakes.

Would have been the "perfect" place for me. Would have still struggled on the climbs, but I would have been nicely competitive on the flat sections.

Not sure what you mean? The change doesnt affect cat 2 riders.

Vets

Masters

and Racing Ladies

SV will still be in cat 1 but there are two separate start groups for Elite and SV. Surely SV that want to move to Elite can still do so.

I might be wrong but i think there are a couple of sv that is seeded A-C but opted for cat 2. Maybe they would have entered cat1 if they knew sv would start seperate from elite. Just a thought

When i checked yesterday there were just over 20 SV that opted for cat2.They will have to now ride in cat 1 (in the sv start )from what i understand.Cat 2 will only be V/MS/L.

Still think the bunches are toooo big and and things will be even more unsafe changing to a single GC and only 20 points up for grabs. That means EVERYONE is going to contest the sprint.OOOOUCH.
