Your time up OKW - for the average Jo/Jill

Not in a race, just training. Two years ago it was 37min (from the 'bokkie' sign at the bottom, just after turn off to Chappies) to sign at top of Ou Kaaps a few meters before you get the Silvermine entrance). Last year just before the Argus it was 27min and last week 24min. I'm super proud of myself.

Bwahahaha! Nice riposte, Roer, I know what you mean.

"Erm," Le Turbo whispered, "I haven't actually ever ridden up Ou Kaaps in my 17 years in Cape Town."

Actually 24 minutes is not too bad from that side - it's much further.

That's averaging 16kph... that's pretty quick for the likes of me. Well done! Will have to time myself on Sunday if I'm not dead by that point...

If only I was like the maniacs going up Mont Ventoux at 23kph and it is almost 4 times as long and 5 times as high. Buggers...

What? Nooit. Ou Kaaps is calling Le Turbo. ;)

had a look at the gps track file of one of my past races and did it in a time of 21:29 (from the chappies turnoff). I'm not quite sure where the bokkie sign is that you speak of

That's very good. Well done.

There is a lot of factors at play I suppose. I see you are a young lad. Not that I'm an old lady... (let's just make that clear :) ) I'm in my late 30's,(I only started doing sports a few years ago and that's my own stupidity, I know) but to me I'm taking things in my stride and setting targets/goals as I move along. Without 'pedigree', you can't expect just to get on a bike and get amazing results, but that's cool, because it's just so amazing reaching those goals, even if it is just to better my OKW time.

ps The sign is a little further on from the Chappies turn-off, on your left. I always start the clock from there.
