Very 'compact' MTB frames <> water bottles!

Rode with someone last night who was on a Merida AM800. There is place to mount 1 single water bottle 'within the triangle' but it is not possible to even put a small water bottle in. Think it was a medium frame!

Hydration packs will be the order of the day for this young man I'm sure!

I've only got 1 water bottle holder on my bike...underneath the frame near the BB!

On a muddy or dusty ride it's not great if they are inside the frame, can't imagine underneath .............. maybe go for the in the pocket pro look?

My Epic also has a mounting spot there but I guess that's just to amuse me! Also has 2 within the triangle but only 1 is really usable, despite it being an XL.

So what do you do if you only have one bottle?

My GF also have a small frame and can fit only one bottle. I bought her a Hydration pack (1.5l).

Do you put water or energy drink in the Hydration pack or just water in the bottle? This is for the 94.7

Not only does it get muddy underneath, but it takes a lot of skill to reach down and grab it as I'm almost kissing my handlebars when I do. I've only ever tried it at Northern Farm or when I am on tar. I prefer to keep my teeth intact. Wink

Depends on what I feel like on the day. Generally just water and then I use energy gels or Enervit tablets as my source of energy.

I don't think you are suppose to use a bottle cage on a AM or freeride bike. It's like putting bar ends on or even worse, risers with bar ends.
