Floyd Landis calls for legalised doping

From Cyclingnews.com

American says testers are not remotely close to catching cheats

"Tthe testers are so far behind in the testing organisations that there's no way to change it now."

"They're not even remotely close to catching anybody; it's just a joke. You can use as much EPO as you want and unless you're an idiot you're not going to get caught."

"Since you can't stop it you have to deal with it in rational kind of way. You can't stop it and you cant fix it. Monitor it and make sure people don't hurt themselves, but you have to accept it."

I believe that there is a LOT of truth in what Landis is saying here. I truly think that the guys doing it are streets ahead of the testers and are getting away with it. Agreed, some-one is going to get badly hurt ior even kill themselves if this is not regulated.

What an utter numbnuts.

His argument collapses with "monitor it and make sure people don't hurt themselves".

As I understand it that is igzackerly what the current anti-doping rules are there to do.

Doping doesn't mean swallowing tablets or getting injections, it means nothing that's on the banned list.

What next? Performance replacement parts for the human body?

b.t.w - how discriminating is that - the guys with money can buy drugs whilst the guys without the money must get along with their own strength? LOL

That is what all sport is like, the club with the most money buys the best players....Drugs....Physios etc....

Look at motorsport...more money = better cars etc

It's lead to a condition known as "passive doping".

The problem is ...Where does it stop? Before you know it there will be kids, with their parents knowledge, taking EPO and whatever else to get an advantage.

We already have, at some MTB races, a 10-15min gap between the sub juniors and the main pack to stop fathers catching their kids and helping them up hills !

IMHO we already have legalised doping. By having a lower limit below which there is no sanction, they all probably try and get some "legal" benefit, and only use as much as they believe is safe. This is probably one of the reasons why pro-teams have permanent doctors. The inconsistency comes when a substance is banned without a lower limit, as with Contador's case. The suggestion as I understand it, is thus that the lower limits should be substantially higher. IMHO the present system might require some panelbeating, but it is not a bad compromise.

I am sure that is common place already.
