Sounds much like the hell I went through for a couple of years till my doc got me onto the correct medication. I can only give the advice that the meds worked very well but you would need to see your doc on what to prescribe.

I use an asthma preventer each morning and antihistamines each morning. Suppose to use a nasl spray but its too expensive and I don't notice the difference.

Hi Cbrunsdon - interesting thread - as I and many other also have the sinus thing, so also still searching for a proper solution. Are you an asthma sufferer ? or was this a indirect way for sinus solution ?

What antihistamine do you take ? I take loratadine and pseudoephedrine (to narrow nasal blood vessels), but still not a good cure. Have tried 101 nasal sprays but never had success. So, I am interested to understand your medication better. i.e. maybe a stronger antihistamine required.

I was getting alot of headaches until I switched energy drink.... they are more or less gone now I am using GI32...

Similar experience. Lots of headaches after long rides.

Stopped after changing to 32GI.

I get headaches sometimes after a long (3 hours) ride if it is a hard ride.

In my case the "cure" has been to have an ice cold Coke as soon as poss after the ride finishes. For PPA races I have a 500ml Coke waiting for me on ice for when I finish. I am an occasional Coke user ;) but I find it's made a huge difference to my post-race recovery.

iliadin "Prolonged use may cause rebound congestion and drug-induced rhinitis. Iliadin should not be used for a period of longer than five days."

My wife was also experiencing rebound (the condition of using nasal spray for than 5 days) and it became a nightmare. In a way she got addicted to it as it got into a vicious circle. Once you go over the 5days, it actually causes the nasal drip, you then continue to use to stop the drip making the condition worst.

She now uses a salt nasal spray and never experienced rebound again.

I'm no doctor and do listen to your wife (I cannot believe I just said that), but as an interim speak to your chemist/doc about using the salt based sprays.

It took my wife nearly two weeks for the rebound to wear off after she stopped using the traditional sprays.

Mr Larfer, also look at the salt based nasal sprays. Your chemist/doc can assist.

On medication, I'm an asthmatic but its preventative medication thats only required at the moment. My asthma and sinus do go hand in hand as I'm allergic to my wifes cat, pollen and the chemicals used by our local farmers. Many people in the Helderberg and Stellenbosch surrounding areas also suffer from this (well I do hope they are also allergic to cats).

On my medication, I'm taking an antihistamine called Fexo180 which is third generation - so now drowsiness or side effects even when consumed with booze :) The non chronic version is called Fexo120 which is a slightly milder version as it is only effective for 12hrs vs 24hrs for the chronic version.

The effectiveness of my medication is that it works for nearly 24hrs and last week was the first time in 3 years that I've been on it that I needed to take pills at night - our whole neighbourhood was dying of sinus as a tree blossomed that is know to be sinus hell (we had odd weather I must say).

The benefit of being an Asthma sufferer is that you can get a salbutamol prescription. Salbutamol is chemically very close to clenbutamaol. Apparantly over half of Spanish cyclists suffer from asthma (according to the UCI).
