How can a saddle crack down the middle? You are not suppose to sit on that area. I see alot of these saddles being set up level but it being a "spoon" saddle, the nose need to point up a bit so that you stay seated on the back and don't slide down to the middle.

IMO the local distributor argument is a red herring. As the agent/distributor for a global brand it shouldn't matter where the saddle was purchased - in SA, on CRC or on the moon. The local distributor should ensure that any local returns are sent back to Fizik in Italy and the process is paid for by the manufacturer. Perhaps the better option would be to try and contact Fizik direct?

Also - I would imagine that a 1% failure rate would be too high and would warrant a recall - just ask Toyota. The damage that this kind of thing can do to a brand is huge.

I agree with you ....... If the local agent gives you crap contact fi'zi:k directly..... Even phone them and tell them the local agent/distributor is not honouring their warranty....... Even if it is a so called "grey product"

Polar worked on and replaced products I purchased from Totalcycling

RIGHT NUBBINS !

Go have a look at "Leaking shock (FORK !) or is it?" thread.

Valid complaint > contact agent > sorted. :D

It does not look like the Fizik agent has said he won't replace the saddle, he has simply requested that the complainant follow their replacement protocol!

NB! ZAR agents will not warranty products that don't have PoP for the simple reason that CRC et al exists. If you purchase a product from CRC and it fails, why should the Local Agent carry the can?

File your 'little slips' of paper. GAME won't take back your poked TV if you don't have Pop.

It works both ways. :o

I hope to see that the last post of 5 ? pages of Top Whining reads.....Cracked Gobi REPLACED :D

sorry to do this i did not have time to read through all three pages. just to say my gobi cracked 3 months and i was not sitting on my nutts. the wing grooves seems to be it's weak point

On page 1 of this rather humerous thread I indicated that I had no problem exchanging my Gobi at my LBS. Yes, I had POP. QED. Because I bought my saddle from an accredited outlet. As for recalls? I doubt it, as its not life threatening (unless you're very blessed :P ).

Bottom line:

- buy from accredited distribution channels

- keep your POP

- don't expect product recall if it isn't life threatening (or can do serious bodily harm)

Response from agents:

Hi Rob

Thank you for the info. We have replaced a couple of units thus far, according to Fizik protocol. When a unit cracks, the consumer is to take the unit back to the store where the bike or unit was purchased from, with original POP, and we will process the claim.

We are aware that some bike dealers, will want to rather sell the consumer another product, but this is generally not the case.

It is unfortunate that some clients were told that they would not receive a claim, but then again some consumers expect a life time warranty.

Regards

Anthony
