I got a new bike yesterday, and it came with Elite bottlecages fitted ( I'm lucky I suppose) - I could swear they are "narrower" than standard cages. Am I imagining things?

you not imagining things, i had the same problem - bought a frame and these very nice looking bottle cages (the aluminium versh) were included.

be careful though, because after a couple months of trying to jam in and remove a bottle that didn't quite fit, the aluminium on the one cage workhardened and the cage and bottle snapped right off.

if you find bottles that do fit properly, let me know!

The older elite cages had specific bottles for them (500ml or something) which cost an absolute fortune... I rode with them for about 8 years, they never broke, but I also had to use the same bottles until they basically had holes in them they were so old.

Did some research a while back.

You get a 66 diameter and a 74 (I think). The 74 is the standard.

Elite made the 66 for a more earodynamic water bottle. Still had the 500ml same as the 74mm diameter. Just narrower.

All above said and done.......Enter Camelback.....

Please do an 80 something bottle so that it doesn't fit standard cages....  <_< <_<

Thanks Spinnekop, I know they do. But I am in the UK now, will source locally. Seems like www.probikekit have got 66mm bottles. The Dogma bottles would go nicely though. Maybe get the wife to "import" some back to the UK from SA (now, that does NOT makes sense), when she goes next week...
