Just be careful and I have heard this from quite a few people and seen 2 dented rims. The AC rims are very soft. Rather mate the AC hubs with the ZTR Alpine or Crest or even the podium's. just my 2c worth

+1 , did my AC in last weekend .they are very soft but still good wheels.

Indeed! The carbon tubby/dugast combo alone probably costs more than 99% of complete bikes on thehub...

100 Euro per tyre aint that bad.

How much do the tubbies go for?

Posted

Was told that his race wheels on his 26" at Pmb where 850grams complete. mmmm if true thats nuts!

26" Dugast tyres weigh about 500 grams a tyre depending on casing so i don't think that can be right.

Apparently Nino runs tubbies made especially for him - close to 250 euro a pop. The wheels are around 2000 euros so thats what - R24,000 for wheels?

Not a catastrophe but WAAAAAAY more than I'd spend on a pair of wheels...

I think my XT/XTR custom Giant XTC 29er was about that price!

I think Iron meant the wheels excluding tyres. I heard sub 1kg - haven't got the exact weights...

The 26" tubby rim is only 260g!!!!!

Edit: Edge website claims 1,102g using Sapim CX Ray spokes and DT190CL hub...

About 900 euros for a set of the Ritchey SuperLogic and they weigh 1250grams for the set. Most of the pro's here ride them or i have seen some ENVE ones that are getting tested and are said to be lighter...around 1000 grams a set.

24K ... it would be cheaper for me to fly home, mug him, and fly back with his complete bike :P

Innolite make a 210 gram 26" tubular rim but i am sorry i won't ride them as i am to heavy and to scared.

With some Tune hubs and ti spokes you can get them down to around 900 grams for a set of wheels.

Innolite rims are around 450 euros a rim :)

For me this is all theory - I would never ride a carbon rim or a tubby. One because I don't believe carbon is a great material for mountain biking and the other because I'm not sponsored...

For me the 1,600g American Classic wheelset is perfect.

Okay now my mind is working overtime.

Edge tubbie rims, tune hubs with sapim spokes = under 1kg??

Edge is now ENVE and some very nice rims, just a pity that they are so pricey.

AX Lighness 26 mtb wheels [AX carbon rims + Tune Prince & Princess hubs + Sappim spokes] = 985g. Paired with Tufo tyres, these weigh slightly more than Shimano XTR Race wheels sans tyres

That, with a full XTR group, AX Lightness bar [52g], stem [63g], seatpost [103g], saddle [65g], + Sludge move the scale on my Lynskey to 8.4kg.
