Nibs is pencilled in for TdF.

Basso for Giro.

I wouldn't wanna see Nibs do both Tours for overload reasons.

Hope he can make a good step up in le Tour.

Oh, okay, I had not read that so its news to me. Personally in his form I would have thought he would want to go for the Giro, he is Italian, he is in top form, there is a lot of climbing which is good for him and he will almost certainly podium, maybe even win, as opposed to the Tour where I just dont think he will make the podium, top 5 maybe, but I think top 10 probably.

Nibs is a super descender.

Climbs very well.

And is above average in the TT.

He is shaping up into a very competent GC rider.

Plus the team surrounding him is right up there.

Top 5, me think, for 2012 in le Tour.

I will be supporting Liquigas for honours in Giro and TDF. I have also seen a report of Nibali lined up for TDF and Basso for Giro. Preference would have been to see Basso win TDF, but doubt that he is strong enough for that (will keep on hoping though), so Giro is a good second best, and as is being said Nibali is a serious and capable contender for TDF.

Is his TT as good as Wiggins though? Wiggins is probably the one to beat at TDF this year?

Wiggins played on the track for a long time before he hit the roads as a pro.

Was a pursuit specialist, I've read.

This experience adds a lot to his form when he races against the clock, Supersix 3.

Nibs is good at TTing.

Not as good as Wiggins though, I reckon.

Ego still a bit bruised after the 3rd and 4th finishing position at the Milan-San Remo. :cursing:

The team did well on the penultimate climb to lead up the peloton and kick azzz the sprinters like Cavendish and Farrar into oblivion.

Then had 4 riders in front on the final climb, Poggio.

Then the move that took Nibs and Sagan involved in two breakaways over the final kms.

Keep it up, team.

Basso in a bit of k*k with his preparations for the Giro.

He dropped out of Paris-Nice when he injured his right knee in a crash.

After re-injuring his knee during a crash in the Catalunya, he is going for scans to assess the damage.

LG-C are one of the top 3 GT teams with huge firepower but at the moment they seem to lack that extra 10-15% in their GC riders per GT to take the win. They almost like the old T-mobile team back in the day, huge overall talent and fitrepower but cant seem to get that win.

I thought when Kritzinger left they had an open hole left unfilled but with the results he hasnt been getting at Astana seem to un justify his 2mill Euro contract a year.

I hope LG-C find that extra they an awsome team but relying on Basso to win another GC is not really a reality anymore.

I have never know someone to have such bad luck as he has after his comeback. He is either injured or sick, he then gets behind on his training and then has to go harder which results in him getting ill again, a vicious circle. I really like him and hoped he would do well but I am know wondering if its bad karma for his previous doping indiscretions.

Yeah, but from his days as a white jersey at the TDF I think Basso has always been a bit of a hit and miss affair, you can never really know if he is going to be ready for a tour or not. When he is good he is superb no doubt, but when he is bad, well..........he is really, really, bad, he doesn't seem to have a middle ground, its all or nothing.

His 2010 victory in the Giro was his last moment of glory, seemingly.

Hope he redefines himself to be a super domestique for his team for a season or two.

Then, hang up his bike and do funrides with Cippo.

Yeah, they lost a huge talent in Kreuziger, in my opinion a potential Tour winner, but maybe there wasn't room for three GC contenders and they are throwing their weight behind Nib's and Basso. Liquigas has very deep pockets, they are most likely one of the most well managed teams financially on the circuit so I doubt the money was an issue, I think there just wasnt room for him there, which I agree was a real shame.
