Anyone know what the import duty on bikes is?

I may need to ship a bike over from the states - anyone know what the duties on bikes is? Has anyone shipping from the states?

ER - have a search under the Online Shopping forum - should get plenty of information there.

 

Not sure about US imports specifically, but should be dealt with in the same manner as importing from the UK and Far East, which several Hubbers have done...

I think it's 40% plus vat! Strip it and send it in two different shipments-no duty, just vat.

Cost of bike + transport = total

Total x 1.15 (15% import duties) x 1.154 (15.4% vat) = basicly what you can expect to pay. Plus there is a small admin fee of maybe R30 at post office.
