Finished my new build last night (ok, early this morning), will post pics soon. Little problem though, I can turn left, but right does not work, as the rear brake line is very tight, and I don't want to break the brakes...

So, the question, what do I need to extend the lines? Been Googling a little, and seems it is doable, however, where do I buy lines locally, as well as the bleed kit? I do not want to wait for a kit from CRC...

We have a MTB Tandem with disk brakes. I put Goodridge braided hose on the Tandem. I ordered form www.chainreactioncycles.com. The local agents are Cycles Africa in Johannesburg. Contact them and ask where your closest LBS is. Be sure to get the correct connections and other bits you will need to do this.

I did the same thing in the week on a clients duel sus and had to redo it. :(

Don't take a short cut with your brakes.

You are very fortunate Stretched! In a country where all drive on the left, being able to only turn left will undoubtedly save your life. It might take a bit longer to get where you are going, and you might only be able to ride The Argus, but you will be safer for it.

However if you are willing to risk it, then new cables, glands and olives can be had. And then you can enjoy the rest of your perfectly sunny Saturday, and the evening, involved in the frustrating science of bleeding Avids. I am sure your mates will shout much encouragement from the braai, and bring you a few ales.

When you are done - post piktchas!

you need a new brake hose, connectors and bleed.

Excellent excuse to go braided

Would love to go braided, but then I need to do the front one too... Also read that the Juicy Three's don't work well with braided?

BTW, see pic below, you can see there's not a lot of "slack" in that there line...

Quick update, switched the brake for the Juicy 3 off my other bike, and hey presto, problem solved. That one is about 1.5" longer, so has done the trick. Saved myself R430, which is what I was quoted to do the job.

S@B: tell me something: have ever spent some time building up PCs for people?

Hey Cap, quite a left field question, but no, I've not. I'm very good at stripping them, but not building. Why do you ask?

 i asked cos the way you pulled that left brake line tight to the frame reminds me of my PC building days trying to hide cables and the like. nap of the earth flying for those cables...

@Capricorn, lol, that is so true, take that one step further and try putting together a RC heli and trying to hide all those wires in a place where everything is totally exposed, drives me insane, :-)

Ahh, yes, just like things to be neat and tidy! I hate loose cables, drives me insane. I think I have a cable tie fetish...
