What is a hard wearing mtb tyre

I fitted a Killer Bee 2.0 to my rear wheel a month ago and it is already badly worn.

What tyre should I try next? I don't want a slick as this will limit my options for weekend riding.

My wife is commuting with Cross marks and they seem to be wearing gradually.

Any other (sensible) options?

Continental Town & Country - done 2K on them in the last year and still good for another 3K. My commute route is abit demanding on tyres, especially the steep downhills where I tend to skid a bit.

They are 1.9 so technically not a slick. I had slicks (Kendas) but damn those things are deadly. Nearly came off my bike when hitting a pothole because they are too skinny.

I commute in all weather with them and cannot find fault - I even hit some non-technical dirt sections with little Hubber in his seat and never a complaint or seeing dirt.

Best price for T&C is Bucycle.

stick to killer bees, but rather buy the get 10 special at about R130 a tyre (ask your bike shop) In that way even if they wear fast they can get replaced.

If you not into that idea consider GEAX tyres, they wear for a very long time

I use Maxis CrossMarks...........don't ask me mileage, but I do know they are giving me good distance. I commute +- 41kms p/d.............all on tar.

Get a couple of them via CRC................ps - check that the customs okes dont overcharge you..........

Only one tyre.

Schwalbe Marathon Extreme.

Puncture proof, hard wearing. You should get anywhere between 5000 - 9000km per tyre. I use mine for loaded touring and commuting.
