  1. I know the planning probalbly sucks, but unfortunately lap racing takes a place on the back burner in SA. Nevertheless I will rather do this race than the Magalies monster. Spinnekop, you calling Chilli Pepper? She is very quiet. Maybe I should not use the word technical. Lets rather say riding at Fountains will improve your all round mountainbiking skills!
  2. Hi Swissvan, you are right. Fountains is probably one of the best MTB venues around. The amount of singletrack is amasing. Something different everytime you ride there. Afreekdusoet it will be good seeing you there. You will enjoy it. It just seems that all the other hub mtb weekend warriors are very quiet. Come on Chilli Pepper, come and join us. This is really fun!
  3. Hallo Swissvan ou maat. Ja ons mis jou by die Fonteine races. You will enjoy it now. New singletrack and rockgardens. Very technical, but just the way we like it!
  4. Spinnekop we can go slowly. We can have a "how to" class!
  5. Moenie vir my se Spinnekop is bang vir 'n bietjie tegniese mtb nie!! This is really an awesome course. New singletrack sections built for the National. If you love singletrack and you love mountainbiking this is the course for you! Come and ride it!!
  6. miss v, what type of details are you looking for? Sport class starts at 08h00 on Saturday morning. Anybody of any age is welcome to come and ride the sport class. This is an open category, no licence is required. Sport class will do two laps of the national course. entry fee will be R 30-00. After the sport class the different age groups will start racing. The final for the day is the elites. Their race will start at 13h00 and they will do 6 laps. Let me know if there is any other details you still require.
  7. This coming weekend Saturday 26 May is the fourth leg of the MTB Nationals to be held at Fountains in PTA. The course is mainly singletrack with one or two short sections of jeep track. A lap is about 7.2km. Elites will be doing 6 laps. Come and ride the national course. Everybody is catered for, from sport class all the way to the elite racer. If you do not feel like riding come and see others in action on a spectator friendly course! See you there!!
  8. I do not agree with the comments regarding the Maxxis Larsen tyres. I have been riding with these for more than two years and did a recent Epic ride on them as well. Up to know I have had no punctures or other problems. They are relatively cheap as well, can buy two sets for the price of one set of Phythoms. The Maxxis Crossmark delaminates and forms bubbles.
  9. This guy had a mad partner as well. Both of them completed the Epic on their rigid singles speeds. Apparently the bikes they were riding( Independent) is quite a big name and manufacturer in USA.
  10. CAADMAN there is currently no talk to discontinue the SIX13. However due to the good price that the CANNONDALE System Six is selling for in SA at the moment it is not worthwile selling the SIX13 in SA.
  11. I would rather buy the System Six. There is currently a R 1000-00 price difference between the SIX13 and the System Six. This is for the frame, fork and SI crankset. To me this is a no brainer. Then there is also that bargain Sytem Six floating around on the hub.
  12. Like spinnekop said I rode a synapse for a year and I was really surprised by the bike. Before the SYNAPSE I was on a SIX13 so there was a big difference in comfort between the two. The SYNAPSE was maybe a little less responsive than the SIX13, but nothing to write home about. This howevr can be expected as this bike has a completely different geometry, built for comfort. There is a couple of different SYNAPSE models available. I had the SYNAPSE 1. All carbon with SI cranks. Most of the SYNAPSE bikes sold in SA is SYNAPSE 3. They use normal cranks in the oversized BB and are slightly heavier than the 1. If you spend a lot of time in the saddle, this is the bike for you. My old bike with Campag record and EASTON Tempest 2 wheels is just over 7kg in weight.
  13. Morne Bester of Van Greunen is ex pro? Why does the ladies results differ between Cherry and goofs?
