  1. The wonderful Kiwi sense of humour, opening a water park as winter sets in...smh. Be keen to have a go on that come next summer though.
  2. Coro is awesome. You need to get up to the Bay of Islands, too, that's one of my favourite spots, just stunning. Oh, and of course, get yourself a boat as it all looks even better from the water ;-)
  3. Congrats! Getting the paperwork behind you is always a huge relief...
  4. I went fishing after work last week Friday and got this sunset. Oh and a few snapper for supper, too
  5. So, anyway: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/oceania/new-zealand/galleries/26-reasons-why-New-Zealand-is-the-worlds-best-country/
  6. I had a Legacy Outback for a while, LL Bean one, with roof racks, pretty nice car. Flat 6 heaps of power...
  7. You get used to it - the idea of not doing all your own stuff seems weird to me now!
  8. I've not actually ridden down that side apart from an excellent MTB ride with niterider, but driving to meet him at Maraetai I was pretty much drooling at the oppos for road riding down that way. As he says, awesome loops out to Clevedon, through the Hunua ranges, down to Kawakawa Bay, etc. I'd live that side easily (we're on the very northern fringe of Auckland).
  9. Doesn't look like the crappiest car I've ever seen.
  10. Awesome thanks for that insight niterider - last time I did one was probably 10 years ago, remember it being a bit of a performance!
  11. Just completed the forms for our NZ citizenship. It's been a 5 year journey which looks like it is coming to its logical conclusion 'soon'. Only hassle is that I have to go to Las Vegas in May and may have to wait until after that trip before filing the paperwork, just in case there isn't sufficient time to get the citizenship and the passport before I head to Sin City... Of course, if I travel on the Green Mamba, it means a huuuuge hassle of getting a US visa...
  12. All this rapid pace of development means you need to keep a keen eye on the classifieds, heaps of bargains to be had as the 'latest greatest' okes dispose of their brand new hardly used 1x10//1x11//2x10//3x9//etc stuff
  13. On that particular note, what anyone else chooses to do with their Rondt or Dollar, or what have you, is entirely up to them. And, I want to paint his yoohoo gooooooold...
  14. More to the point, perhaps - looks awesome, but remember kids, it won' make you faster, only training will do that. Well, training and PEDs if you are into that sort of thing.
  15. You shee Mr. Powers I love gold the look of it the shmell of it the taste of it the texture, I love gold so much I even lost my genitalia in an unfortunate shmelting accident.
  16. Weather's been atrocious this last week in Auckland...maybe just as well, I have a cold so can't train anyway!
  17. Interestingly, I like the Union Jack being there. Reflective of history and all that. I'm mostly of Scottish extraction, so no good reason there for an affinity to the Brit flag!
  18. Hardcore being separated from your family. Mine returned a week ago from a 3 week visit to SA. I got really fit...but missed them so much. Sterkte.
  19. 'African' and 'Exxaro' special jerseys are a farce.
  20. Heh, I do a bit of work for Bike Wise ;-)
  21. I bank with ANZ; excellent organisation and the most impressive mobile banking app you will find anywhere in the world. It is even better than online banking.
  22. Housing is stupidly expensive, but interest rates are very low at around 4.5% (and a cut expected). I'm too scared to buy a house in Auckland, it is risky because the market is overheated (and that heat is leaking into the regions...which suits me, because I have a house in the regions and its value has shot up). On that note, I am hoping to be in a position to move back to the countryside within a few months - have a firm offer on a second property we have and might wind up almost mortgage free by the middle of the year. That will be absolute bliss, will be able to ride my bike more and spend more time with my boys.
  23. and PS my boat has a 3.3 litre 6-cylinder two stroke direct injection motor on it. Petrol, I'm afraid, so no, I don't follow my own advice by any means.
  24. This is also why you should get a boat with an inboard diesel (VW makes a TDI diesel 250hp, I think - 6 cylinder). At around 80c for a litre of diesel, and no RUC license necessary, that's a good deal. Just as a matter of interest, the RUC scenario is because farm vehicles don't use public roads and therefore aren't taxed on fuel. Boats, also, don't use the roads. That's why on road vehicles need RUC licenses. I had a diesel ute, but even though it is laaughably simple to get a RUC license, I always forgot. Back to a petrol vehicle for me.
  25. From what I understand, even if you're on time, you'll probably have to wait in a queue.
