  1. ?Mountainbike? is een woord in Afrikaans. Awesome.
  2. After 4 years of ordering from CRC I have now taken to just ordering from Chris Willemse. The prices are very good if not better than CRC, the service is awesome and there is no risk at all. Last week he ordered in an Avid brake bleeding kit for me for 15% less than at CRC before shipping. You can't beat that with a big stick.
  3. How do you contract a Policeman exactly? If it's cheap enough I may get myself one or two to look after my house while I'm out at work during the day.
  4. Well done Marius. You posted a technical question without once using the words dingus or thingy. Progress indeed.
  5. You can phone the organisers on 021 424 4760. They are accepting late entries until all spots are taken. For my sins I am doing the King of the mountain which means running up and down and then cycling up. In itself this isn't a problem except I have to finish the run part in 2 hours to get on the bike for the cycle start at 9:00am. My calculations say that the run is 20 odd Km's. It's going to be eina I think.
  6. This from the other side of the spectrum Vrek snaaks.
  7. The judge says to the ET murder defendant, 'You're charged with killing Mr Terreblanche with a panga.' A voice at the back of the courtroom yells out, 'You bastard!' The judge stops and says to the guy in the back of the courtroom, 'Sir, I can understand your anger and frustration at this crime. But no more outbursts from you, or I'll charge you with contempt. Is that understood?' The guy in the back of the court stands up and says, 'I'm sorry, Your Honor, but for fifteen years, I've lived next door to that bastard, and every time I asked to borrow a panga he said he didn't have one.'
  8. My view this morning. Two Ocean trail run.
  9. Nothing but great service and smiles from them.
  10. Gotta say I love my Vermarc bibs. Shorts are a very personal thing though. For the life of me I can't wear Cape Storm shorts, they just rub me up the wrong way. Cape Storm have swapped my shorts and gone out of their way to help me but my bum is allergic to them I think. Strangely enough I can tolerate El Cheapo Rapid Sports shorts for hours at a time. Which just proves that quality doesn't always work for everyone
  11. Exactly. I'm assuming the humerous comments have been from the Mountain Bikers.
  12. Well I think that this thread conclusively proves how humourless and up their own arses most roadies are. Before you know it we wont be allowed to tell sexist and religious jokes here.
  13. I Would Rather Get Knocked Over By A Bus, Then Cycle For Fun.

  15. Of course it's worth their while. They all knew the prize purse before the event yet still felt it worthwhile to enter because that is how their sponsors get coverage. If the pro teams didn't start the Argus then the only difference to the other 35000 riders is that there would be 60 or 70 less people finishing in front of them.
  16. If I was racing in the Giro and you gave me a choice of racing the Argus with just the Giro boys or racing against Lance Armstrong, that I would choose the later. I doubt anyone in the Giro would answer any differently.
  17. Unfortunately I've never tried the Maxxi's so can't comment. I do know that the Vittoria Rubino which the wife and I use are easy to change and tough as nails. 2 punctures in 2500km on mine so far. The are not expensive either. They come standard on the Merida Scultura range. Look here..... http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/vittoria-open-rubino-pro-folable-tyre
  18. Gator Skins are great but as they have a wire bead they can be a mission to take off and put back on the rim when you have a puncture. Without being sexist, make sure your hands and tyre fitting technique are up to the job. I suggest you get your LBS to show you how and make sure you can do it yourself before you buy them. My wife certainly doesn't have the strength to change them, and as you ride alone it is a point worth considering for your own safety.
  19. I have the 2010 Merida Scultura 905 and have done 2600km on it since November. I really must take it in for its first service but I never remember because apart from 2 punctures in that time, nothing has ever gone wrong with it. I like the quality so much I'm replacing my MTB with a Merida in April when their new stock arrives.
  20. I cannot believe that no one has mentioned Paula Radcliffe. The arch exponent of the Sh*t and run.
  21. Too true. At Ironman last year I did a 30 minute transition and eventually they had to drag me out of the tent. I'm pretty certain that the massive open door between the male and female areas wasn't supposed to be there. Not that I heard anyone complain.
