  1. Just checking, but as far as I remember the official Randburg Harriers clubruns are on sundays? There is (or used to be) a running group from the Virgin Active in Malibongwe on Saturdays - Boskruin running group.
  2. There was a similar thread going on trailhub: http://www.trailhub.co.za/topic/619-training-and-recovery/ See Koei's repsonse (he is also on bikehub). Good luck. Hope it heals in time.
  3. Speaking about running with your mind... 4 years ago a ran Deloitte marathon. Decided to run with a club mate. He started like a man posessed and by the 8km mark he was already about 500m infront of me. Foolishly I decided to keep on running this pace and went through the half way mark at about 1h40. At 23km I blew spectacularly and was walking Klapperkop. At 26km I decided this was crap, had a long talk to myself and pressed the 'reset' button. Ran till the end from there. It is still my marathon PB...
  4. I also use gels. Used GU gels, but now use USN (cheaper and goes down easier). Used PVM gels, which got for free at a time-trial at the club, on Pick-n-Pay marathon. Caused a bit of nausea... When running trails we also use farbars. After 4hr I get a bit hungry.
  5. More or less the same with me. Started the year really well with two "quality" sessions per week (8km TT on Tuesdays and a faster 4km TT on Thurdays). Speed was improving steadily, but picked up a few niggles mid February and stopped completely the speed sessions. Now my speed is nowhere...
  6. I see Ferret did 1:40 on Vaal.... My wife and I opted for the monster on Saturday. It is closer to home, and I also decided a tough-ish 32 might be better for us than a flat 42 at this stage.
  7. Ah okay - I have pretty good idea who it is.... I know Gareth used to do Randburg Valentine 10km, Bronkies 32km and PnP marathon for a 84km weekend in the old days (don't know if is still doing it). I'm struggling to that in a week. But on the other hand, I'm not doing Comrades.
  8. Who's the guilty party? Gareth? Rob? I was many years ago a RAC member. Used to hit 1000km mid March just before Two Oceans (never did Comrades). Injury cured me... Was proper gatvol for running by mid April, but really enjoyed the Sunday Club Runs.
