  1. Hi guys and gals. I was going through the tech section of www.cyclingnews.com today and I happened upon an article named: "Top-level teams and riders get their way in the name of going faster"The point of the article is that sometimes top riders repaint other brand bikes to thier sponsors' bikes. So don't always believe that a rider is doing well on a certain bike as it might not be what it looks like. Check it out at http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2007/tour07/tech/?id=/tech/2007/features/tour_tech_607
  2. You will eventually catch Robbie as he goes too early.
  3. But that is the point, is it not. Most people on the road are funriders. Those that want to "race", pay your fees and race. I feel that there will be less people riding "organised" rides like the 94.7 etc and more people riding funrides without proper marshals etc. I think that a licence forced upon someone will be the end of the social rider who want to have fun. Maybe this is not the correct forum as most of you are "cyclists" not riders.
  4. Why do you think that it is great? I need reasons why you are for or against....
  5. Hi On SAfm on Saturday, we are chatting with the President of CSA, Lawrence Whittaker. They are looking to enforce a law, that to take part in any cycling race in South Africa, one has to be a licenced cyclist. The cost should be around R150 per year. I would like to know what you think about that. Will it stop you from taking part in fun rides? Are you willing to pay that for some added CSA protection? Let me know so that I can bring it up on air on Saturday. Jon Gericke
  6. Pity it's a mountain bike and not a sweet roady
  7. So the 2007 UCI Track Cycling World Championships began in Spain today and South Africa has not ONE person riding. Surely surely surely we could have found one or two riders to ride? Where are out track cyclists and why do they suck? I was going to move to Canada to play international cricket but I think that I will stay in SA and represent the country at track cycling.... J
  8. The "actual" timing mats were the ones down the road from the finish line, the ones making all the noise before you turned off the road. I know, I was interviewing someone and the officials made me move down so that thier time would stop. Jon
  9. The last 10 km of the Vodacom Race for Victory!!!
  10. I have a couple, my sport one is BBJSPORTGUY but my cycling one is TOWARDS THE ARGUS Problem is that the 2nd one isn't being updated enough!!! Bloody holidays.
  11. I don't like to name names, but he is a pro and should be a better example. Jock Green in his Red Barloworld kit wasn't wearing a helmet on Hendrick Potgieter today. Example to young people?
  12. I agree with all you have said. The base is there so that speed can come later. If you are not fit enough, you can't climb as hard or sprint as long. You need the base to get going 1st.... That's the logic as I see it and as Tony will explain it. Maybe I didn't explain when I wrote the 1st report. We base, the we do more. Imagine being twice as fit as you are, THEN doing those fast training sessions...... you would leave those guys in your slipstream. Cheers
  13. What do you suggest then, Bruce?
  14. It will cover as much as I have time for. I will be focusing on beginners, but Tony told us to do 4 hour base rides, 6 days a week for 4 weeks, so it is a bit for the tough guys....
  15. I am in BASE training at the moment. Why go out fast?
  16. Hi Guys and Gals SAfm has started a programme on Saturday and Sundays giving out free training tips and programmes with the South African National team coach, Tony Harding. Tony will be giving us a programme towards the Argus to get us to ride our best time. If you have the time and the inclination, it's well worth a listen. Also, please go to my new blog, http://towardstheargus.blogspot.com and give some feedback, tips and advice there. Thanks Jon
