  1. mampara those must be cheeeeeeeeeap my novaX were R115 and that was at a shop with no discounts.......i could have gone like 30km down the rd and got 15% off though............
  2. I've had my ravX novaX for just over a month quite happy with them as i use them for rowing at the gym so they go through some serious abuse. Have no clue how long they gonna last that way but id definately consider getting another pair when they die
  3. sorry too slow obviously
  4. oh this is the emarentia story on the news......
  5. nooooo really sad actually when you know his brother rides one you would think........
  6. yeah its pretty close just that anthony doesnt sell meridas i wouldnt have even asked otherwise for advice though he's my first choice and when i get the bike im sure service will be as well
  7. I get confused between what you call them (leg curls are the one where you sit and extentions where you lie on your tummy?) Anyway - although not exercising the calves, you do use them to keep the toes pulled up (or the foot steady). leg curls are the ones you lie on your tummy (always hated thse so i dont do much of them) and funny enough they should excersice your hams meanwhile all i feel is calves - cant put much of resistance on that particular one either the leg extention is a sitting one but you dont actually need the calves much (and yet i got my cramps right there) as the pad holds your feet....but who knows...... it will be a mistery and yet im happy it went away and cos of my theory i am eating more veges and fruits these days.....
  8. i work just down the rd from fritz pienaar's so i was looking for gloves one day and took a drive there thanx to the dude that helped me - he saved me R100 as i was going for girly fox gloves but something in the colour just didnt do it for me. he found an alternative in stylish black AND saved me money just i didnt enjoy the push towards the treks specially made for ladies......
  9. thanx mampara considering my newbee status i am not looking for the most expensive bike as yet.........plus im not in it so my budget was/is about R4000 if on the less than that price it would be great there were 2 bikes i liked that fellunder that category - the gt avalanche 2.0 and the merida matts 100 v as the guy at mike's bikes told me (he was very impressed by the fact his shop has been mentioned on this site by the way) was that the same frame is used throughout their range even on the more expensive bikes, and if i decide to upgrade i will just have to spend money on the components plus after a chat with him we agreed that the existing components are better than the gt and thats at the same price range any thought would be appreciated although it seems only expensive makes get discussed on this site again im sorry i didnt study something it orientated..... so i was kind of leaning towards the merida, especially since i saw it at the cycle expo......add the sun adding lovely shine to it and what more can i say........ plus i have some aquaintances (however you spell it) that ride merida, carbon though, and do very well i might say...........
  10. thanx WW
  11. i went on a browsing trip on sat i think cajees problem might be the size of that shop its bloody huge i missed slipstream as they closed by the time i got there but i'd love to go check it out do they sell sidi shoes? i was told it's a shop somewhere in bryanston...... as to the size og jhb........ well thats why i was asking i live sandton/rosebank area so am i going to be paying prices according to my the area? or is it normal pricing? i wouldnt mind going to boksburg if its gonna save me a few hundred of something big but i am not gonna make the trip just to check it out.....
  12. so there's plenty of cycling shops out there where do you guys shop? do shops in different areas differ in prices? or service for that matter i certainly am not going to cycle tech in kyalami..... would you compromise price for service? for instance 2 shops have the bike i wanna get the one is close to my house, real friendly people, heard service is good but a bit more pricy than usual + the bike is R200 more the other is close to work, quite a big shop so they wont be greeting me by name for sure but the bike is cheaper..... and do you bargain - is it a requirement to ask for a discount?
  13. i know it was bizzare plus it was during peak hour so some embarassment was involved i dont know how my legs would perform on long rides but i used to snow ski when i was younger and had very strong legs now thanx to gym they are getting back to what they are supposed to be waiting for the ultimate test though - that long hilly ride..........
  14. hi Vleuelmoer, i always start with cardio - lately it has been rowing water i drink like there's no tomorrow and as to eating - i dont eat before i go to gym for about an hour hour and a half, and when im done i give it at least 30min before i eat something (waiting is not always easy i might add) i dont do calf raises at all - even when i went to a trainer i refused flat out because i know i have a problem night cramps havent happen in a loooooong time thats why this was a complete surprise the only thing that i had done differently is that i hadnt eaten fruits and veges for about a week, or at least it wasnt as much as before that so i was wondering if that could have been it thanx for all the responses though and i might think about those sports salts my leg is ok now went training sun - didnt push it and last night had a good workout and its all 100% now lets see how that 35km goes down......
