  1. Please. Lets us not get sidetracked here. It realy is a very simply question. What has more value? A child; oh such a romantic term. Or a full f**king carbon, dura ace, zipp tubbed and race ready dream machine?
  2. Thats politics man. That is only of small importance. What is of more importance is... What is more important? Hatching a DNA that matches your own? Or on the other hand - New bikes and unlimited racing? (And remember, one of the toys "The Brat" will steal is your wife/girlfriend, aka the body, soon to aka "Mommy!" firewolf2010-02-04 07:14:17
  3. OK. So here is a topical one. Which is better? Hatching offspring? Or new bikes and unlimited racing? Why I ask is because this time last year, I stood looking out of my spare room window (which overlooks a neighbours garden) and lusted after the Carbon Tri Felt, with full Dura Ace, and Zipp 404 Tubs. Back to present time and all I can see is a wierd calmshell kiddies plastic pool. SO this is the truth of "The Brat." It cometh in the night and stealeth all dads toys.
  4. I don't ride MTB but know the dude who works at the bike shop in Glencairn and Man! any trails he is planning or is involved in I will give my 100% support to.
  5. one day I asked the girls at PPA "How do I improve my seeding?" They answered "Ride. Ride. Ride."
  6. ya know the wierdest thing? @ last years tour de worscester I picked up the belt part of a heart rate moniter, handed it in at the big coke truck/announcers stand - and while standing there enjoying a beer i won a trip for a weekend to Goudini Spa. (On the lucky draw) Go figure.
  7. yeah I know about the labels on stuff but I am lazy to work it all out.
  8. gells also interesting - you can just mix em into small plastic squeze bottle (like kind made by hammer gel) can put like four of five in there, and thats obviously quite a lot of gell. No need to tear open packets, no gell on hands, no gell wrappers to dump in pockets or throw as trash. Like some dudes do inside the reserve. firewolf2010-02-01 11:30:59
  9. I also have a question - If you eat beakfast(say a small bowl cereal), drink a high carb, sugery sports drink on the bike, with one or two gells and maybe a banana, then reydrate with another "recovery" type mix after your ride/race, just how many kilojules are you actually taking in? Could it be possible you are taking in more than you are burning off? Can anybody reccomend a free nutritionalist to speak to?firewolf2010-02-01 11:20:57
  10. i use 1 bottle sports drink mix and one bottle water during racing. sip little of both all the time (every ten min) they both help. one hydrates the other hydrates and repleneshes (electrolytes, minerals, carbs, glutamine, etc) on short training rides use i bottle water. 750g less to lug around. Save ome money that way too. On longer rides use the same mix you will use for race day. That way no nasty surprises.
  11. what taxi think's bike? Ride Salt River main road early weekday morning ingoing to town and see for yourself.
  12. Think bike stickers are very uncool looking. A nice, rear window decal would have looked more impresive. With two smaller sized dacals for each side of the rear of the vehicle. Also - a few, smaller ones, for the inside of the vehicle. Eg one on the rear view mirror (Very small decal - even just the word "BIKE!", one as a license disk sticker, one for inside the driver side sun visor, a small decal on the driver side wing mirror. All these would serve to remind the driver to "Think Bike" We dont need to see a car with a "Think Bike" sticker somewhere on its rear to think bike. We are on a bike. The driver needs to think bike - i.e accomodate and share the road with bikes. And, if they want to be really nice - to not kill us. Getting killed can really really ruin someone's day.
  13. is any body watching thi crazy ass japanese sh*t on dstv? Man these dude r on the cheap drugs! ANIMAX!!! It rocks. Kind of...
  14. speed kills? ok, *** joke. But everyone was a rookie once. In my job working with a rookie/probie can get me killed. Which would really piss my wife off. But.. after seventeen year I have learnt that sometimes ya just gotta work around em.
  15. flowta r you also a surfing convert? Do you also find you r the only one looking out at scar point/ mistys/ crayfish/ 365/ outer or inners as the race races on? firewolf2010-01-28 12:22:44
  16. Like the 99'er logo - TIK:Not even once. Man it was more like ten years of everything, all the time.. Now I love my bike. I loooove my bike. I looooooove my - Oh boy! Excuse us we will be back soon; now - just let me lock that front door.
  17. don't do speed. It will drive you crazy. Just ride your bike really fast.
  18. looks like a friend of mine's ex wife. firewolf2010-01-28 00:59:58
  19. hell! Guys I sure hope all bikes and bones heal up soon. Are all those involved in crashes lucky enough to have good bike insurance? What is the respone of the race organisers? Any compensation? Doubtfull right? Man I feel pain just looking at these race machines and tubs smashed because of a poorly planned finish.
  20. bought a pair of Oakley Radars about six months back. The right side lens clip is broken. Waiting to see if they will replace for free at the Argus expo. Over the years have had Oakley frogskins, razors? (sic) M frames, ox blood something or other, and now wear Oil Drums off the bike. Love Oakleys. Fixing is not that expensive and have always found the turn around time ok. BUT..... If anyone out there has a pair of Briko Stingers... with the blue lens... That would be my personal best old school shades ever!
  21. oh my f**k! LOL!!! what the hell kind of dumb ass sh*ts on his own self? I hope it was late in the evening when there were less people in the main road parking area. Or did he take his suit off on the beach - in front of the girls tanning?
  22. Glow cones that pop out of no where. Km sign boards placed outide of the yellow line right in the direct path of racing groups. Slow or short route riders in the middle of the road. These are all real problems. Well done Groot Lem.
  23. A good couple of years back we were surfing one of the reefs in the false bay area. This pro kneeboarder - no names mentioned - paddled a little bit away from the pack on the main peak, unzipped his wetsuit, pulled it down to his ankles, and took a dump right there in the freaking ocean! His face betrayed his relief; when he was done he pulled his suit back on and paddled back into the pack. All eyes scanned the water to see if any floaters were about to stick but the tide was dropping so the "product" must have washed out to sea.
  24. I have always wondered why people can carry full bottles in, but not empty one's out. Upbringing and culture? Does poverty breed disrespect for the environment? If a person can throw bags of trash out of the window of their domicile why not throw bottles onto the road? Some cultures are not raised to respect life; or to understand that their actions have repercusions on others. On the other hand perhaps they do, but don't care. We humans sure are a complicated bunch.
