  1. put em in the containers and set em alight!
  2. mikkelz u r an expert at answering by not answering. respect.
  3. like during the road races in the cape when in the faster groups passing the slower groups and some monkey decides to start shouting "Left! Left! Left we are racing here!" as if he thinks this is the tour. Have done some league in SV and those guys are killer. Very little talk, very little bs, just legs to the f'ing road type of racing. also raced in A group argus and other PPA events. And also raced in ZC. J, E, C, and every time i hear someone who thinks they are a pro who can shout at a lower seeded rider I just think "PRICK". Sorry but don't be a wanker on a bike just love the ride and remember that not everybody is as super hot on a bike as you. ( if you are the swearer otherwise thanks for the ride.)
  4. both what?
  5. surfing is very spiritual but so is road racing.
  6. always a risky thing which is why a commanly accepted thing across all spectrums, classes, religious groups, is a higher power of your understanding. but frail never made mention of any particular g*d/idol/concept or... frail asked that after every ride we consider those who did not make it home. and also that we give thanks that we will. the power of collective thought can sometimes lead to a physical critical mass. all respect to all out there always of course.
  7. now here is something that is very, very interesting... I am also thinking that the majority of hubbers are mtb'rs. don't even know if that is the correct term cause I am a roadie but do have full respect for all on two wheels. so is majority of hubbers are mtb'rs then mtb must be more popular? or the hub is more popoular with mtb'rs? good question Bluemax. will follow this one too.
  8. cynical in the extreme! all these posts in response to frail's post. man - life is cheap it seems. and so is sentiment. and so a noble idea is torn to shreds. why not just do the action? stop at a robot and remember the past/present/future. and let each one's higher power of their undestanding protect them on thepre/present/future ride.. or not.. be it as it may. but a collective conciousness is a powerfull thing. believe it. or not... like where you at frail.
  9. its never cool to swear at strangers. More often than not the effect blows up in the face of the rude person - maybe not right then, but it will at sometime. Even if the dude is like a super euro pro, and even if the others were totol rookies, it is still better to just take a small breath and be the example not the dumb ass. every one started out somewhere and everyone ends off somewhere. love the ride!
  10. today is for eating and beer and food and wine and family and beer and hic, some more food and hic, beer Lol. Do feel that usual edgy feeling though. Always get it if off the bike more than one day. And been off three days now. merry xmas to all.
  11. have you noticed how a shark attack will make international news? many times it will make front page local newspapers and get, at the very least, a mention on the evening news, if not a short report. Many people feel absolute anger and hatred towards the shark, and wish a thousand kinds of deaths upon it. Yet the death of a cyclist, i.e. a human being, by the hands of another human being behind the wheels of a motorised vehicle is most often met by the non cycling world with an attitude of "serves them right, bloody fools, always riding two abreat, etc" or, just plain indifferance. Humans are a strange bunch sometimes.
  12. saw him on tv last night. had no idea of his sporting background. pretty impressive no? but pro's do have more eyes on them. so anything they do can be spun either way. in my wroking enviro there are always media cameras so every action and word has to be considered. Like the nanny state comment.
  13. i wanna be able to tell between the colours red and blue - so I wear a helmet. I try not to let errant/malicious drivers get to me. If they drive into/over me perhaps the helmet will save at least my head.
  14. vittoria rubino as a training tyre. bit heavy but ultra long lasting. use them on training wheels and on indoor trainer.
  15. it sure sux that dronkies believe its cool to throw glass out of moving vehicles. if karma exists then what fait awaits them?
  16. terrible news for the cycling community and the family and friends of the riders.
  17. man what a beeeuit! where can I get one?
  18. try check out the cell phone clip with footage of a conversation between King Leonidas and Xerxes - In afrikaans. Very funny!
  19. 300 is a classic. frank miller is very good at what he does and the conversion of his graphic novel to movie screen was done with absolute perfection. sin city also good.
  20. drugs fry your mind. they make you a prisoner inside your own body. they make a stranger out of your soul. they strip away all joy, and hope, and leave an empty shell. just don't. not even once. been there. got lucky and managed to get out. and a higher power reunited me with a bike. best thing is an addiction that makes you stronger. I hope the man finds a way out.
  21. mr swiss. why not save your hard earned rands/euro/other and invest rather in a nice pair of assos bib shorts? If this is not to your taste perhaps you might find the time to visit a friendly gangster down in the cape flats. He will be more than willing to supply a wrist band tattoo in any colour you like. Even pharmstrong yellow. Also popular are kill me quick purple and smoke a lolly white. Any other problems with international suppliers should be reported to your local triad/morrocan/SAP branch for follow up and tracking. firewolf2009-12-21 10:50:33
  22. and if your legs are crap no shorts will save your ass. os.
  23. assos must be good - they are swiss and used by the pro's. Perhaps it is just that they appear to be overly expensive? If a pair cost R3000 and a rider was on the bike every day for a year they would work out to R8 per day. (give or take). Bikes may be expensive but they also last longer. My bibs last around one year before I replace em. I actually highly rate the assos range (especially the top of that range). Would very much like to be kitted out head to toe. Their winter riding jackets are very niiice! But Assos is going to cost more. Again - if ya got the bucks spend the bucks on what you want cause it makes ya happyand because ya can! And life is short. But the road may be longer than expected and a comfortable bum means a better, less painfull riding experiance. Vermark, Giordana, Santini, Assos, etc, all have ranges that cover the financial spectrum. All are good and personal preferance may be the deciding factor. Yes or no?
  24. why r they so expensive. prefer vermark anyway. also comfy, both short and long rides - like the dc. also last long. cost R1000.00. so like 3 pairs vermark per 1 pair assos? replacment alot cheaper. but hey, if ya go the bucks then spend the bucks on whatever you want right? firewolf2009-12-21 08:09:13
