  1. Does anyone know of anyone else besides Howzit to make some kit for DC team? Howzit has been making our kit for the last 3 years but this year their service was non existent at least. I am sick and tired of phoning and emailing them now and the DC is around the corner. It looks to me like they are not interested in small orders. Any suggestions? I know its maybe a bit too late to get a new kit for the DC but we still have last year's kit we can use. I just need to get someone else to do kit!!!!
  2. One of the first things you must do is have your bike setup professionally. It will make a huge difference in your riding and will avoid countless injuries. If you are in the Western Cape area then you have Chris Willemse Cycles or Cycle Lab that can do it for you. Its the best R250 I have spent for my cycling
  3. September is seen as the start of the cycling for most cyclists. We all get that warm and fuzzy feeling knowing we can all get on our bikes and race each other again. We also look forward to some BIG events this time of the year. With that said, it is also the time that I must cough up tons of cash for this "warm and fuzzy feeling". Lets look at a few of these expenses: PPA membership fees: R220 License fees: R310 Some other license thing: R65 Argus entry: R220 Double Century entry: R150 Easy Entry Tickets (for 5 races): R350 (I think). .... still getting dropped ... PRICELESS!!!
  4. Someone in an ealier post said that Cytomax is a bit expensive, but if u work it out it actually works out cheap seeing that you only use one scoop per bottle compared to other products that required 3 or more scoops
  5. What I noticed with Cytopower is that it makes urnate quite a bit. .. ps .. What is the difference between the Pure protein and Whey Protien?
  6. Can you give a brief description of what was involved in organising something like this. Me and a group of friends are planning to do this kind of thing next year but havent gotting around to planning it yet. I was going to to do the "up" ride but I think riding back is much better and you wont have the pressure of trying to "save some for the race" nitsckie2008-07-30 02:40:05
  7. I think its much steeper than OuKaaps but it also depends what side you doing it from ... I will go measure the two and compare it this weekend
  8. It would seem like. It feels tougher though. Red Hill is like a mini Alp D Huez with all its turns up to the top
  9. One down Voortrekker would be nice. I get nailed by taxis and buses on a daily basis down that road. I have resorted to riding on the pavements sometimes to avoid them. I have been hit by too many side mirrors, lucky nothing serious (yet)...

    Doping

Why is weed on the banned list? Surely this makes you go slower???
  11. The point was to firstly get who will be in this years tour and not to go off on who going to win if the guys are not even going to part of the tour. My intention is not to make this a doping thread but merely to figure out who the hell is going to ride ... from then we might be able to choose a winner ....
  12. I am not too sure about the fact, but is Vino not banned for the crap he caught on in last year's tour? Also, Boonen wont be going to the Tour because also went to sniff some coke .... Contador wont be defending his yellow jersey party because of what Vino did last year. My man for the tour is Velverde!!!!!
  13. And be carefully if you cycling to Killarney tonight. Its in the same area!!!!
  14. Everyone knows that is a no-go area for cyclist. Please guys you looking for trouble especially if you're riding alone.
  15. Ja, I agree, the gadgets just show you how bad you riding after all
  16. Is anyone or group riding training in the mornings between 5am - 7:30am in the Tyger Valley area. I am stuck at work and I can only train early in the mornings and my buddies that I normally train with are all on holiday and riding their bikes without a care in the world. So if there is anyone out there who is in a similar position let me know. Its probably going to be like this until the Argus!!!! I normally go out towards Tikkiedraai , Visserhoek , Tygerberg hills area, or Bottelry road.
  17. Do you really need to SMS everyone? Why not just SMS the team captains? .. Thanks David .. guess you'll a lot of beers after the ride for this!!
  18. These things are not brain surgery. I am also a software developer and if their systems are done properly then they should be no human intervention and everything should happen automatically. Updating/renewing membership should be a click of a switch. Thats one of the reasons we pay should a lot for membership its so that we can have proper IT systems in place and not have to wait for things to happen.
  19. What I notice is that when I race my cadence shoots up to over 120 most of the time for long periods. Although I normally train at over 100. I guess this shows that I am not training as hard as what the race is like?
  20. Thanks for the stretching link. Normally I do my stretching on bike when I do my cool down. But it does not seem to be working that well.
  21. I totally agree with you. I have seen this kind of thing in the races. One would expect the guys that are/have done the power training to hammer the rest of us in the group. But in fact, I managed always to either finish with or before them. And I know know that they are fitter and stronger than me because we train together. Its not all about the amount of power one has. Its a matter of maintain that power over a long distance and using it where it matter. These guys need to learn racing skills as well and how to conserve that power and use it when it is needed.
