  1. Once you have ridden a 9,7kg Santa Cruz Blur XC 26" duallie you will definately battle to find the positives in any 29er. Oh and by the way that is comming from someone that actually also owns a 29er.
  2. Just to give you some interseting info. I have the same scale as yours and I replaced my Reba with the new Sid xx. Weighed the reba once off the bike. Reba with 181mm steerer and lockout = 1610 g Sid xx with 181mm steerer and lockout = 1590 g If I knew there was going to be such a small difference I might have just kept the Reba. What do you think?
  3. I can tell you out of personal experience this is one awesome bike. Having ridden a Santa Cruz Tallboy for a while the Scott definately climbs a lot easier than the dualie. It is however , and this is only my opinion harder work on the 29er to get uphill but not by much. We have a local race 6 times a year which is a 25 km route. Rode it first 2 races on a Blur XC 26 Dual. Then rode the next 2 on Tallboy and was 1:15 faster on Tallboy. Rode last race on 29 hardtail and was almost 3 minutes faster than Tallboy in worse physical form. In my opinion the hardtail rocks but saying that everybody will have their own version ! I can just tell you the new Scale frame is extremely light and has the new SDS chainstays which definately absorbs the bumps to some extent. Hope this helps. ( By the way I still hang onto old faithfull which is my 26 Duallie which is still an awesome bike )
  4. They are the Michelin Wild Race'R. Awesome but about 680 g per tyre. Have just replaced them with Racing Ralphs and that got bike weight down to 9.74 kg.
  5. Aebro I think you are really unreasonable in posting this on the hub. You cant go and thrash a guys name without really looking into all of this first. While you were still wasting time in typing dibs I already transferred the cash as it was the bargain of the week. I agree with the fact that I lost to many deals where guys promise the world and deliver absolutely nothing. Money talks and dibs walks. Your statement is really uncalled for and unfair , but don't worry I will let you know how the helmet fits and maybe send you a picture of me wearing it
  6. I agree. My windcutter also always squeeled when pulling the brakes hard. Replaces with g3 and problem solved.
  7. It is the best bike ever. Mine weighs in at 9,7kg complete. The best singletrack munching cross country racing beast ever. I have the tallboy also but prefer the blur.
  8. I reckon best value for money and weight is the new SID World Cup with carbon steerer ( 1380g ). There is one available now for R5000.
  9. I ride both bikes. They both are awesome bikes. Really difficult to say this or that but I reckon I would keep the Scott and buy a nice hardtail 29er.
  10. Having ridden both a dual 29er and 26er I can say that if you live in a area with a lot of mountains and you are not a real strong rider the 26er rules. I have gone back as it just spins a lot easier but that is only my 5 cents.
  11. There are some nice new routes in sabie which are marked. There are a lot of other places we ride on the outskirtd of town but it is not marked. Send me your details.
  12. I think the worst thing for anybody that has spent 30k plus on a bike is when you are in that long awaited race and a guy on a "game special " passes you with tekkies and all on the toughest climb of the day. That just sometimes shows you 30k is not always the best spent money, but at least when I walk into the garage everytime I can't take the smile of my face when I look at the " beasts " standing around beckoning me to go and ride them !!!!
