  1. Wish I knew the answer. Did a gravel race 2 years ago on my Checkpoint and suffered a lot. Did the same route this weekend pushing along on the hardtail, which felt a lot easier. Time difference over a 100km segment was 36 seconds 🤦🏻‍♂️
  2. 185cm with 90cm inseam - 58 Emonda and Checkpoint. My guess would be a 56
  3. Have a Supercaliber (dream bike). Later got Procaliber for training rides on the roads around home. Have had the opportunity to compare my segments on both bikes over 1000s of km. For me, when it gets twisty and bumpy, the dual is quicker for less effort. When the road goes uphill, the HT gets there quicker. I love both, but suspect that had I bought the Procaliber first, it would have been my only bike.
  4. Anyone know what will come of the series now that the Satellite Classic is cancelled ?
  5. Does anyone have any info on how "gravel friendly" the 160km event is ?
  6. Bring back Navworld, they provided super service.
  7. Same signage at Emperors - also sheer madness with traffic lights, gatvol motorists and overworked marshals near the end.

  9. I use a small curtain hook with a string on. Fasten the curtain hook into the far end of the hose before pulling it through the frame. When it comes out of the frame, the hook with the string will follow. Then fasten the hook into the new hose and pull the string back through the frame until the new hose come out the far end. Works a charm.
  10. Had same problem. Got punch from Builders and tapped it repeatedly over a couple of days with lots of muti to loosen it up. All was well in the end.
  11. Know where that is and got chased there too by, probably, one of the same dogs. I rode as hard as I could up the hill and the dog seemed to tire just before I did. Instant interval and heart lifter-upper. The people who followed after me did not try to ride away and slowed right down whereupon the dog lost interest.
  12. I run a 11-42 with the 2 x GRX setup on my Checkpoint. The rear derailleur copes fine but the total range across both front rings is beyond its reach so you cannot cross-chain it.
  13. Awesome idea - stealing your idea this weekend 😊
  14. Thank you. I, honestly have not made up my find on the finish. At the moment. it's the raw aluminium which looks cooler than I thought it would. I'm going to polish a section with Autosol - recommended to me by quad-racing mates and see how that lasts. Come the new year I'll strip the frame, should be less than an hour's work and then decide. It will probably best to have it clear coated, but she only ways 8.2kg now ...
  15. She's built, fast an light. Took her on a maiden run this morning, very happy.
  16. That is that big, lumpy, BB you see on the photo. ( very nice kit ). Want to run this bike without a tensioner. Hoping I can manage with an oval chainring, else I’ll go round.
  17. Turned my first Titan MTB into a SS for SS Champs - did not expect it to become my go-to bike for weekday, 40k, rides. Love it so much, started a new build on a GT Zaskar frame with a Niner rigid fork. Hope to finish this week - holiday bike.
  18. Same hoops, same problem. Shimao distributors saying not their problem. Ditching them for alternative hubs.
  19. Original Hardtail found nwe favour as a Single Speed. Funnest bike of them all
  20. The final product runs like a dream
  21. Start to SS Road Bike Project, sourced from Hub Classifieds
  22. Bought a Flux 2 just before lockdown. Makes mechanical noise, especially when cold. ERG is inconsistent and every now and then it would just lock up in mid stride. Thankfully, after lockdown, Cycle Lab gave me a full refund, bought a Kickr and there is no comparison. Kickr ERG is seamless, device is quiet and consistent. Based only on my experience it is a no-brainer in favour of the Kickr.
  23. Hi guys. I've entered and am hoping to do my first Eroica on my '82 Peugeot Classique this year. Does anyone know whether there is bike transport available from Gauteng ?
  24. Here are a couple of images, the worst of which is of the head badge. Thank you so much for your help.
