  1. Our local farm fire response was quickly on teh scene:
  2. Something I have never seen. We were the second car on the scene after one of the motobikes had a crash on the pass. The motorbike burst into flames, and we waited there for about 20 minutes, because we could not ge past. The rider was ok, but swaering like a sailor.
  3. I normally ride from home, close to Bekker Schools, that is about a 40km round to teh top (not via Hekpoort / Bird Store). With the little one, we took the car, and parked it at the T-junxion (there the Hekpoort road joins), and started the climb there. I did not time it, but it was about a 40min ride to teh top, and 10min back down.
  4. My wife is a psycologist / social worker, I will speak to her on the couch tonight...
  5. View from the top, you can almost see my house in the valley....
  6. Another one:
  7. A couple of weeks ago, my son said he wants to ride the whole of Breedt's Nek. I though he was joking, but he persisted, and it just shows how little fear a youngster has. He was standing on the padals almost the whole way up, I cannot even do it fo 10 seconds. On top of the world:
  8. Nice one. Seems that all enjoyed it. I can still remember the first time I took my 8 year old with, could not stop talking about it for weeks.
  9. I love the looks of the first one.
  10. Just got a similar note from our BMX club. Fortunatly there seems to be no nerve damage. Good luck with the recovery.
  11. I like smooth fast flowing singletrack, without rocks.
  12. Just live with it. I know, it should not be like that, but it is very difficult to find. My Stumpy has been doing something like that for a long time now. My LBS could not find it, and after the SabieX last year, I re-built the whole bike, still the same. I suspect it could be that there is a allignement issue somewhere, but not sure how to find it.
  13. My brother got hi-jacked in the Rooihuiskraal/Reeds, on one of those green belt area's between the houses. Was pushed off his bike and held at knife point.
  14. It is to clean for a MTB..... Enjoy.
  15. Cool pic's. You must have suffered with no granny gear....
  16. Thanks BOS.
  17. Nice pictures.
  18. WOW. Enjoy the ride.
  19. Since my 9 year old has taken to BMX, I want to create a mini BMC track on my plot. Looking for all the advice I can get at the moment. Previously, I did build a MTB route (about 4 km's) on the plot, but due to it not being used weekly, it has not worked out. I want to incorporate some of the MTB layout in the new BMX track. The area that I have available is in the form of a triangle, with the longest side about 80m long. The land is flat, and the soil is a dark brown clay. I was thinking of creating a couple of jumps and then over time extend the track. I do not have a lot of money to spend on the project, but want to see how far I can get.
  20. Lefty looks so cool.
  21. So sad. Hope something good can come out of this situation.
  22. Has anyone timed themselfs up the climb? From the T junxtion on the Magaliesburg side (just where the road starts going uphill) to the top. It could be fun to get a group of riders, and do as our running club sometimes do: slowest start first, and then every couple of seconds, a rider.
