  1. So, just 85% of the general population, then? 😉
  2. Pala-Pala Friday? 🤔
  3. I think a cyclist was knocked down ‘in’ one of the ENTRANCES - on the LEFT, just after the top, heading down over Ou Kaap se Weg, direction Noordhoek, at around 10.30 Sunday morning. 3 people were assisting him, and he was lying down OFF the main road-way, in the car-park entrance, so i did not stop (I was in a vehicle). Hope he is ok; keen to hear HOW this happened. Chris
  4. In CLAREMONT, Olympic Cycles; in HOUT BAY, Chapmans Peak Cycles, and the large Cycle Lab store at N1 City…
  5. I have recently donated on 2 separate occasions, to 2 different STORES, who had/have a large donations-box inside the shop, and that truly goes to a worthy cause/under-privaleged riders. Chris
  6. I have a Spez S-Works 26”er frame, and groupo, that i TOYED with doing the same (gravel project bike)…. I felt that using the MUCH-MALIGNED Epic ‘Brain’ shock (rear, and front) could potentially work well on gravel, since the bump-compliance is good, and may make for an interesting Gravel experience (washboard roads, anyone…!) Much hate was directed by many knowledgeable riders to the Brain shock(s), i never really understood the hate; rode 2 Epics on brain-equipped bikes, and I really ‘got’ the concept. So, that would be my idea: Monster Gravel, with Epic brain front & rear, damn the weight (😆), and et Voila!
  7. …and IRMA (Northern Suburbs) for a good bike fitting experience, too, as MANY on here will attest…! irma@irmfit.co.za Chris
  8. Seems you are around 6 foot 4 inches in non-metric. That does not SOUND unreasonable to ride an XL bike. If you have not ridden for 25-odd years, then ‘reach’ and ‘stack’ (think ROUGHLY the HEIGHT of your h/bars) m-i-g-h-t be the area that is making you feel ‘forward’, uncomfortable. Consider starting there, possibly. A Bike Fit (Irma), goes a long way to CHECKING fit, and maybe better than a bike shop saying ‘that looks about right’.YMMV. Good luck Chris
  9. …coverage is now live on YouTube…

Look, when we travel out of the Republic of Hout Bay, we bring T-W-O passports… 1 to allow us access to the Southern Suburbs… and THEN 1 to enable us to travel further, to access the Boerewors Curtain…😄

+1 for Irma - really was money well spent. Chris
  12. Since RYDER is a SOUTH AFRICAN brand, you will likely find this helmet is Ryder BRANDED - and supplied by - RYDER; maybe do a Google Lens reverse-image lookup/search - then you will find what it is called in OTHER countries, and most likely, THEN find a review or 3! Cheers Chris
  13. The shops then DRAW (new/old) STOCK from the central warehouse (or Regional Warehouse), so you are looking for a shop to get one 'in' for you - they are definitely available, hooked up a Hubber with this exact model just 3+ weeks back, etc. Shout if you need help. Chris
  14. Nice thing about the Revolt, it that it comes in SIX sizes, and if you say another brands SMALL has you 'stretched out' then possibly the Revolt XS or S could work - just putting it out there... Also, the Revolt has effectively FOUR bottle mounts on the main triangle alone, since you can (and I have...) mounted a bottle on the 'Bento' box mount on the top tube... (and then the usual mounting points on each fork, etc.). Cheers, Chris
  15. Free, if anyone can use them (located CT), a couple of sets of spare LIGHTLY-used Helmet Pads, for a GIRO AGILLIS helmet. Else they go in the bin. Chris 072 211 7725
  16. Respect, proper respect! A R-E-A-L adventure, and some very cool pics - well done on making the effort to take some of these harder-to-take pics, - us desk jockeys (speaking for myself, here!) love every pic! CHris
  17. ZERO nastiness here; just a bit of fun, and some honest advice; wash the bike, and display the drive side! Point taken. Chris
  18. …and then i would take a photo showing the DRIVE-SIDE! Really! C’mon, get busy…
  19. 🇿🇦Go Byron Munton, excellent result, bloody well done!
  20. Just as N+1 is the required number of bicycles in anyones garage, so… …so, Torque, expressed at TORQ+m*o*r*e (𝝉 (Tau)+++ is the required amount of ‘power’ on assisted bikes…! 😉
  21. Maybe get an identical-sized DECAL made up, so you still ‘honour’ the Carbon, with ONCE printed on a matching YELLOW, and apply OVER the existing decal. and then a really micro decal to cover over the very small Bianchi wording? i would not respray it; rather re-decal it, my 5c. Chris
  22. Managed to find 2 pics of my Francois du Toit-built Peter Allan bike, shown here during my ‘Tri phase’ 😆 The bike was rather unusual, using Reynolds 708 for the main triangle, and then 736 (?) for the rear stays and forks. Reynolds 708 was ‘pitched’ at Track riders, Touring riders and heavier cyclists 😇, since if offered a stiffer frame, with 8 ‘flats’ visible when staring down the seat tube, sort of like looking at the rifling of a gun. When i eventually had the bike resprayed/restored, we re-applied Reynolds 708 ‘Restored’ decals to the main triangle. Fun memories, Argus cycle tours, Triathlon, cycling up the East Coast of Australia with it (!), and then crashing it in the USA, before the bike was cut and re-purposed for a mates young Son. R.I.P. Francois - gone too soon.
  23. ...an hour or two ago, not pre-judging the incident, since driver may have had a medical issue, but take care out there, riders (Just past the 12 Apostles Hotel... ) (possible neck & spine issues, but he is sitting, and responsive). Chris WhatsApp Video 2026-04-15 at 14.59.05.mp4
  24. @droo could either help you, else advise who could assist..., likely.
