  1. Thanks, @Mamil, appreciated - I have dropped him an e-mail. Cheers Chris
  2. Looking to buy SPACERS for Tri Bars - PROFILE Design tri-bar clip ons... Maybe someone has to sell, else where to source? thanks! Chris 072 211 7725
  3. Obviously, it is a type of bread; Pita bread… (though Pita bread can be a Pain In The Ass to find, sometimes…) Chris
  4. Where located? There is a chap in Woodstock, CT, who can likely do it, and then you could ASK Chilled Squirrel who else might repack it… Will get you a phone number. Cheers Chris
  5. you are NOT alone! Having myself a quiet day on Chappies, then…. Krrrr, Krrr, Krrrr…. I have never heard LOUD (high-engagement) hubs on entry-level bikes, but I seem to hear LOUD hubs whenever the Pas Normal Studios / the riders who wear ‘Plum’, ‘Apricot’, ‘Avocado’ or ‘Stone’ colors, you know, the non-greeters… pass me… 😇 (hat. coat. door.)
  6. it was slippy/wet this morning, yet not ENOUGH rain to really 'clean' the roads - wonder if that likely played a role - it really was snotty/slippy...
  7. Nice ride in - W-E-T, obviously; small front mudguard helped somewhat - a fair bit of standing water through commercial harbour, and a Camps Bay driver apologized properly for NOT checking before he flung open his door - luckily i saw him getting READY to open it - I really think he got a shock! A wet day commuting is still better than ANY car journey! Chris
  8. A very well sorted garage you have there; nice organization!
  9. I think edit your request to give us a ROUGH idea of size bike you are aiming for, S, M, L, XL, etc, and maybe a ROUGH idea of what you would like to spend may help your case. Good luck! Chris
  10. On a different, but related note; Wife bought me a set of affordable yet decent sunglasses with built in READERS (x2.0), which have been a game-changer… …now not needing to haul readers along whilst cycling, for Garmin head unit as well as cellphone reading during coffee stop(s).
  11. A credible person (Nic Clelland) with practical, time-bound ideas (6 month test…), an identified route, and proposing using an existing methodology, to be applied to a new ‘initiative’, has put a plan on the table - your dismissal is your opinion, but it feels too strong ; “NO …scheme will fix this…” Any solutions you have to try and make a difference? In 2007, in New Zealand, Clelland was appointed chief of staff to Auckland mayor John Banks.[15] Returning to South Africa in 2009, then Western Cape Minister of Transport, Robin Carlisle, appointed Clelland as his chief of staff where he conceptualised and launched the government's Safely Home road safety campaign that, ultimately, achieved a 25.9% reduction in fatalities in two and a half years.[16][17][12] Cheers Chris
  12. Ah, ok, noted. They did look a little different. Maybe a different Spez store around the country MIGHT have a pair; i would not put much store in Spez SA helping you, though Freewheel Cycology are a good bunch of guys.
  13. Spez Stellenbosch SEEMS to have them, at least online….. ,,,sold out, but R255 per set of 4, for reference…
  14. I think your recent post clarifies - a lot - of your actions, and now reads ‘different’ - well done on further-explaining your actions, I better understand your point(s). this; “Sharp bend to the left and since I just passed two MTB's before the bend I was driving over the right solid middle lane” ‘read’ differently before your clarification - all good… Cheers Chris
  15. @Claudia P. there is a Canadian couple - Chris & Wife, spending 3 months in Llandudno, and actively LOOKING for people to ride with; they are on Trek Domane e-bikes, but MIGHT be worth chatting to them? I have their deets if you wish to chat. Chris
  16. Interesting post…, my contrarian view, esp. in light of some regulars who i respect -deeply- ‘liking’ your post… If you were over the right SOLID line, no matter who/what you were passing, you were in the wrong IF UNSIGHTED… Solid is solid for a reason… (them ‘hugging’ the solid white line, despite maybe being ‘inside’ of it, is not responsible riding…) But, you need to pass riders when it is safe to do so / on a straight, else w-a-i-t for a gap where you can ‘sight’ ahead… I HEAR you, but feel you were in the wrong, on this one… I AGREE with your sentiments for cyclists to slow down, in places, but please, no crossing the white line unsighted… Thanks for reporting this; we all learn… Chris
  17. Do you wear a belt, AND braces (suspenders) to keep your pants up…? …you are likely over-thinking it; I-F the Garmin 130 fails, THEN replace it with XYZ… 1. It might only fail in 18 months - a LOT of development, and, price-cutting - can occur in 18 months… 2. So you lose O-N-E RIDE’s metrics’ on a ride, then instantly replace failed unit, no problem, surely…? 3. stay with the Garmin platform, if it works for you. Regualrity of DA TA, if thatmis important to you… You’re welcome! Chris

  19. Informative, thanks. I do have space for hands on my upper bars, however i will almost certainly investigate/add risers. Are they easily /freely available? (Profile Design, the SMALLER tri-bars, dont wish to swap bars out…) Thanks Chris
  20. @capediver nice tri bars you have (incl risers); those WOULD have suited me better, but going to see how i get on with my ones… Question; it’s probably optical illusion/angle of photo, but it APPEARS as if you do not have space to CURL your fingers around the bars where your Garmin is mounted, or is it purely the angle…? PS: my bars are mostly for a 1x per week, one-way early commute, but I have my eye POSSIBLY on a future multi-day tour or stage race, and the bar extensions are handy for mounting LIGHTWEIGHT stuff, and a change in position, etc.
  21. Yes, they ARE a little short. Noted on the pedestrians and traffic; i commute around 05h30, and the twin lanes of Beach Road Sea Point… ….as well as then through the WORKING harbour, have seemingly/very few ‘threats’ at that time, but thanks for your concern- appreciated and noted!
  22. Thanks, yes, I owned a Bafang motor for 7 odd years, but never programmed it, sorry! I guess Aunty Google and Uncle YouToob will help! Good luck, interesting to hear your results, how you find it, etc! Chris
  23. The opposite of extenuating circumstances (factors that lessen blame) are aggravating circumstances, which are factors that make a person's actions seem worse, more severe, or increase their culpability, such as premeditation or cruelty.
  24. @NC_lurker appreciated, many thanks...
  25. I hope one day his WIFE (shown here, celebrating the mural…) meets with the authorities who over-painted Dennis’s memorial painting, and ask was it REALLY necessary to erase his face…
