  1. I was caught napping, all entries are gone, anyone have an entry for me to take over....
  2. Just finish Borgen S02, Danish political drama, really good. Now watching 'the white queen' also really good history drama about the war of the roses.
  3. It was sad to see so many empty seats during the three test matches, at least I thought that loftus would have been filled to capacity.
  4. I'm with Outsurance, been planning to move to to PPS short term insurance, at least they're a low risk pool, and don't spend zillions on cornet tv ads. Is any body here at PPS short time insurance?
  5. ............. following on from a different posting, I think a flare gun / even a pencil flare in your pack is overkill for most rides. Last thing you need is a flare gun to go off in your pack after a fall.....
  6. I know what you mean, my wife and I always have a laugh, we think of it as people from Pretoria speak..
  7. I'm old school got stuck at COD WAW, on PC it's fab to play online...
  8. Seeing that I'm cape town base and can only do 1 of these which one would you recommend? TH&B sounds great, and I've never taken the road down from swartberg pass.
  9. Hi all, are there any events this coming weekend, the 12th Jan? In the Cape Town area!!
  10. My back is killing me during rides, I have a set of strengthening exercises that I'm suppose to follow, but I think me setup has to be checked. I had a bike setup done some years ago, want to do a new complete one, 'ive changed seat / shoes fork etc' since last setup. JS is quite busy + I'm a complete amateur.... Which cycle shop has the best setup?
  11. Thanks all, I am sticking to taking along all if the above! Should be a good ride we had some rain in mosselbay area
  12. Ok' I'm probably on of those guys that drag along too much gear, the chap that has a chain breaker + spare link etc. It's always someone else's chain that breaks! I'm doing the grootbrak 42km tomorrow, bit of tar, gravel roads and some stream crossing. - I have tubeless , do I take a spare tube? - do I take a pump, if I leave above tube? - do I take a chain breaker + link? - if I take a tube - do I take those goodies to remove the tire? I'm an average amateur, out to have some fun and would be pissed off if I have to retire because of anyl of the above!!!
  13. Ja, did it last year , I'm doing the 42km's, it is a fun event and quite popular. My wife , does the 15km race, 'Say no more". The route has two river crossings that's a lot of fun, it's fixable and the second is about 40m long.
  14. We are a one child family , her name is Earl, our lives revolve around her!!
  15. Thanks I was hoping that there was a route to avoid Albert road!
  16. Gouritz river bridge this morning at 7:30
  17. Can anyone tell me if there is a nice / ridable link to get me from Rondebosch along the Liesbeek cycle trail, down to the riverclub, (here the route ends) , then somehow linking up the the new Cape Town - Bloubergcycle path ? I have a mountain bike so I don't mind the odd voetpath etc.
  18. If you have a number I'll come and collect you....
  19. Hi all still looking, I'm on 0825507751

  21. I need an entry to the long or the short MTB race, can anyone please help me....... Will pay.
  22. What is the possibility of opening a day stage of the Cape Epic to a bunch of amateur riders? All the leg work has been done, there is a route and all the approvals are in place. Possibly the week end after the CE. Could we possibly get at least 2000 riders that would be interested. Would people be willing to pay R300.00 to a charity. (Its not a lot when you look at the bicycles some of us are riding). So we could raise R600, 000.00 + so clever locals can sell us food along the road and raise funds + we can sell some t-shirts / stickers etc. So there is approximately R700, 000.00 to a charity that has the clout to influence the Cape Epic organisers, the main sponsor ABSA, and Cape nature. It’s a long distance so we could break it up into a ‘half marathon’ event for the 5okm cyclists. Where do we start?????
  23. I also suffer from lower back pain due to weal core + short hamstring. I tried the 'spider tech' lower back spider tape, stays on for up to 5 days. I kept it on for 4 das after the race over ou kaapse last sunday. Normally I would have that nagging low intensity back pain for the week after a long ride, I had none of it. I dont really believe in this kind of thing, but now i'm sold. I suggest you try it, with core + hamsting stretches.
  24. Thanks, C I'll take out the tubes and investigate....
  25. On Saturday I change my MTB tires to slicks, I used brand new tubes, the correct size. On Sunday I had a flat about 5km’s into the cycle, then another on the other tyre, at about 40km’s. Both puncture were exactly the same, it has a long scratch along the length of the tube, with a small cut-hole in the middle. It is on the inside in the middle of the rim, the band, along the inside of the rim, is also in good condition.. As I mentioned both looked exactly the same. I took great care fitting the tyres.
