  1. Thanks, bru, you can keep your lollipop. Constructive criticism would have gone as follows: You contact the race organisers, you thank them for their effort in putting an incredible cycling event together for us and then you make them aware of the oversight of one of their contractors in clearing the trash zone. Then you allow them reasonable time to resolve the matter. That's constructive. Labeling the event as trashy on a public forum is not constructive. So can you see why I don't find this thread constructive, in the slightest? I have very little tolerance when it comes to keyboard warriors bitching and moaning about an event online. Especially taking into consideration the immense amount that these organisers do for the development of the sport across all levels. If they were simply putting event together to full their pockets and never gave back to the sport, then by all means, have a moan. Because I agree, if you're doing it for the money, you better get it right. Now to my final point, if people we so disgusted by the mess, then how on earth do they just ride on and leave it like that? It makes zero sense to me because if something bother me, I act on it. I don't just hop online, complain about it in the hopes that something gets done about it, eventually. Hence my statement about driving there and picking the trash up, to reiterate the difference between useless complaints and action. Not for recognition and definitely not to be reimbursed. So, thanks for the offer, but politely, I decline
  2. Zamaleks please, on my off season
  3. Well, for starters, I didn't accept that the area was littered, that's why I drove 40km to pick the trash up. Input doesn't get the job done, action does, so I couldn't care less about your "valued input" Now, let me explain the relevance, Lenie does so much for the cycling community, she has devoted her life to the sport. Not the type of person that deserves their name to be dragged through the dirt over an obvious oversight.
  4. My point is that someone could have done something about it a long time ago if it was reported to the organisers directly, as opposed to discussing it on an online forum
  5. Absolutely, and the quickest way to bring it to their attention is by contacting them directly. As opposed to waiting for them to find out about it on social media. What I find ridiculous is that so many people felt so disgusted about it, yet carried on riding and did nothing about it. It didn't take me 5mins to pick it all up
  6. It was obviously an oversight, or are you saying that they had no intention to pick it up? Because that would just be ridiculous
  7. There is also a professional manner in which to address complaints to ensure that the matter gets resolved. I'd rather celebrate an extremely successful, 3000 rider event than shame them publicly over one small oversight
  8. All has been restored, and I can safely say that the nutrition brand of preference is Black Label
  9. Your comment just shows me that you dont know Lenie at all. Her passion, her sacrifice and everything she does for the sport that we all love
  10. Hahahaha, no! Reminds me of celebrities helping the poor while the cameras roll
  11. Agreed, so easy to carry your own rubbish
  12. Love your attitude bud
  13. I'm on my way already
  14. Personally, I can't see that Lenie was aware that the litter zone was left in that state. It's a big event and a lot goes into planning and organization, so it's very easy to miss something. We all want more races, but publicly shaming race organisers is not constructive. We should support them as we want to same things. Bigger, better, safer events
  15. You love a good rant, don't you? So quick to jump to conclusions and drag a business name through the mud Did you try to contact the race organizers to bring this to their attention? Or was it straight to social media for you?
  16. Drop me a WhatsApp on 0834731930, I'll sort you out
  17. All im saying is that if they slapped a hundy on top and you agreed to courier, then it is your problem. Personally, I arrange collection when buying, because I dont like waiting. So I'll structure the deal around having an item ready atva certain time for collection
  18. Yes, absolutely. Shipping fees and time lines need to be discussed and agreed to
  19. So its simple then, charge more for courier, if your time is so precious
  20. It sounds to me that A) You and the other party did not agree to a time line beforehand and B) You're not happy with the R100 received for postage. If you're not happy with the terms, then dont accept the funds
  21. Same level of professionalism should apply. As with all transactions
  22. I disagree, completely. If I paid you for it, then the least you can do is get it shipped, as soon as possible. Alternatively, dont offer courier as an option
  23. I ship items often, both via postnet and via The Courier Guy. I usually ask the client which they prefer, as not everyone lives near a Postnet. As far as turnaround time, I book the courier immediately when payment is received. When buying an item I ask if and when the item will be ready for collection and book the courier the same time as making payment. If the seller cant make it to the postnet the same day, or the next, then I wait before making payment. Timelines need to be agreed upon before making payment
  24. My son had a TomTom and then a Suunto and then a Garmin Forerunner 45. He has managed to break the TomTom and lose the Garmin. He also has a Garmin Edge 130 that I look after. He currently rides a carbon hardtail with GX AXS and Roval Control wheels to try and keep the weight as low as possible
  25. This is such an awesome thread, you are so privileged to ride with your son. My boy and I started riding together in 2017, he was 8, looking at his strava, we never went further than 13km The year after that he competed in a couple of 20km Trailseekers, got his first win too. We never went further than 35km that year Now he is 13, we did our first 947 together 3h15, he fell in love with the race. We also did our first stage race this past weekend at Sondela, we came 2nd in the parent and child category. He was fine on stage 2, except for the last 20km, but he cruised through stages 1 and 3. Now we enter events together, and he joins me on training rides. My only advice is to make sure to keep it as fun as possible and dont push them too hard
