  1. Running 1x12 on my Monstercross 36T with 9-50T
  2. Maybe whatsapp groups? I'm in plenty of those and people talk a lot of *** there 😂
  3. I agree with you and you make a great point. My assumption is that there is a lot of info out there when it comes to bicycles. It's no secret what the bike would have cost new, it's all over the web, and reviews for days. I personally use this info daily to try and work out what a fair offer would be on a trade in or purchase. I definitely see how people could potentially be taken advantage of, but surely the info is out there to make an informed decision, right?
  4. I really enjoyed the debate and engaging with @Hairy
  5. Buying a fake bike constitutes fraud, did you open a case? On Facebook groups, there is a vetting process to join, it's not open to all and nobody is hiding behind an alias, so they tend to think before they comment. Bad apples get removed and blocked.
  6. I dont mind comments on my ads, I advertise on Facebook too and I moderate a few used bike groups. It was a pain though previously with comments here, but mostly from a comms point of view, using comments to ask questions about the item, plenty times I missed those notifications. Now people call or message
  7. Find me an example in any of my ads or business practices. I don't have the desire to defend my character against the likes of you.
  8. You hardly had the internet back then to do any research on your bike 😂 Oom Hairy, I left school in 2005
  9. And where did I say that I am willing to abuse my privilege? And please use my quote in full context, not half ass bull**** to try and paint me in poor light
  10. 1) Not at all. We have a seller, the hub and the buyer. Whoever sees them and knows better, should warn them. The analogy is hard to use in our current debate 2) That depends. Is the hat still readily available new and in stock? Is it a Specialized hat? Is the buyer bold and about to hit the beach? 3) Bad ads? The term is too broad. For everything else, we have the report function, but price would be impossible to police
  11. Matric late 90s early 2000s?
  12. If the tourists paid a professional tour operator who didn't advise them of the danger, that would be wrong. I don't feel professionally comfortable in sharing my opinion on a fellow competitor's ad on a public platform Yes, I agree with you, lawful practice and ethical practice and socially acceptable practice are all a different kettle of fish and boils down to each individual's values
  13. I have a feeling that you left school a while ago. There is a lot more info on the www these days
  14. I meant, in your tourist analogy, who would the dealer be
  15. That's unfortunate, it really is. Are these lower end bikes, like unde R15k? I definitely don't see this in the mid to high end
  16. Please, take some time and go look at my ads and reviews before attempting to defame my character on a public platform So when I raise a point around the free market model you immediately assume that I use the system to take advantage of people in my own business? Don't draw parallels where they don't exist
  17. Who would the dealer be in this scenario?
  18. I must say, creative way of twisting my words.. That's not what I said at all
  19. My opinion is based on facts. And I witness it daily, in the trade. Would you be so kind as to show me where I am wrong?
  20. Yes, my view that we live in a capatilist free market, or is that stating a fact? My business practices speak volumes, so do my ads, and my reviews.
  21. Can I Google the price of cashews in Moz? Are there platforms to do research, read reviews and get information before making an informed decision?
  22. I just stated the facts. Don't let that offend you
  23. I never said that I'm OK with it, and it's definitely not how I run my own business. But it doesn't change the fact that we live in a capatilist free market, and if you're dumb enough to overpay, with all the information out there, then you can only blame yourself. Edit: Most bikes here are on Facebook too. Chisel included
  24. Unpopular business practices would hurt the business and not the industry. That's my opinion. A lot of that business ends up coming my way, and I can certainly do with less competition
