  1. Chat to Avron at cycle traders, he can get them for much cheaper. I bought 2 for around R300.
  2. Need a new pair of shoes and have heard good things about these. Any advice on model and store to get them from. Not looking for the high end stuff. Cape based.
  3. Pelotrain
  4. Thanks LL, that would be cool! Will drop him a mail.
  5. Who would you recommend i should go too? Maybe all I need is a cycle coach for a few sessions to head me out in the right direction.
  6. Thanks Dale, will give him a call tomorrow.
  7. Although I have been training fairly hard, I don’t see any great improvements. I still cramp regularly and loose muscle power (fatigue) very quickly. I would like to understand if I have any deficiencies, diet/mineral/vitamin, if I have to train my muscles in a certain way (more gym/strength training -or even more cycling) etc. I know a part of it will come down to genetics, but I would still like to have a clearer picture.
  8. Morning, Can anyone recommend a good sports doctor that will be able to do the full battery of testing on me - VO2 max, muscle biopsy etc. Got hold of Mr. Swart, but he is a little pricey at close to R700 just for the initial consultation. Bike fit and testing all additional. This is in the Cape Town area.
  9. Same same - 84kgs.
  10. nice to see i placed! this year will be very different, have to much work and study to keep me busy!
  11. Would preferably like to chat to the lady knocked down and work with her to lay a charge. I have no issues with being involved.
  12. If anyone knows the person knocked down, please PM me.
  13. Me and the fam where driving home yesterday from Kalk bay, just going up the steep stretch of Boyes drive (towards town). One car in front of me is a White Audi A4 2.0l (family loaded), and in front of him is a bakkie and trailer with rubber duck (of course going really slowly due to the gradient) As we reach the peak of the steep section where the retaining wall falls away, the tjop in the white audi reckons he can over take the trailer on the LEFT, veers left, accelerates to over take and hits a women on a MTB (flicked her handle bar). I stop to check if she's okay, very shaken but 100%. Her B/F had some distance on her up the hill and was unaware of the situation. The dude in the Audi (got his reg details) stops, gets out to see if she is okay. As he walks back to his car, i say to him "nice driving, you could have killed her" and he aggressively says to me "dont judge me, everyone makes mistakes" (WTF!! - you nearly killed someone, because you where driving like a farking retard). Fortunately my wife and kid where in the car, and my wife says leave it alone, you'll end up getting into **** if you do anything. The B/F realising something is wrong, cruises back to find some pandemonium, says a couple words to the driver and he pisses off. Could have ended tragically, very lucky for the cyclist. I hope she is not feeling too sore today!
  14. thanks tourvista, i think i will follow your plan and go for a spin on the MTB on Sat. Next event - Cape Cobra!
  15. Lack of water was a major fail and then being pushed through the finish for one small cup of coke is not on. (would have preferred a cup of cold water) One other point, i think as a newbie to road cycling, the announcer could have explained that this race takes place on open roads with normal traffic flow. I was hooted at a number of times during the course of the event and did not realize why until later. As some points i could physically feel the cars passing by. Not lekka. (only other road race is the argus with closed roads)
  16. You are probably right, trained hard, but not hard enough (intensity) and pushed it to hard, to early on in the race. Good lesson for the future, thanks.
  17. More upset over my **** time then the pain!
  18. Tried the riding thing this afternoon, did not go well.
  19. Had serious muscle cramp during the burger, and pushed through the pain and discomfort. 2 days later my legs feel f@rked. I can hardly walk and they are sore to touch. Have been stretching them regularly and massaging reperal type gel into the muscle. I clearly pushed the muscles to far. I can also feel bumps in the muscle, which i can only assume are torn and bleeding fibres. My question is, how long will it take to heal and when should i start riding again?
  20. Sorry guys, I was out of action and Zula was indisposed.
  21. I use a Magiclight M816 on the bars and the H7 on the lid. I think you need both.
  22. I would think the 14 is a brighter light, but the battery is better on the 7. No big issue, doubt you'll be riding for 15hrs in the dark.
  23. Ja dude, ride those legs hard. You gonna be man down for a few good months! Mazal Tov BTW, nice work!
