  1. Dont worry about that, I make him keep up with me sometimes too, but like the guys on the golf course playing with bosses they to will drop a few shots here & there. Still make the effort though I will say he does do a lot more traing then me to(but just road milage, no strength or core training which i've found are just as valuable if not needed more) Just my 2c
  2. No probs - little bit of research, time & effort saved me a bundle.
  3. Is that directed for me or ASG - They will be invalueable for me as ive been riding blind for a while now, so these will make the world of difference - I do agree that it still is a lot of money for a pair of glasses at the end of the day(with a shelflife of two years) The problem being nothing is relative these days - You just need to walk around a shopping mall to see that
  4. So sorry, maybe just put the 4k groupset on the frame - Would still work for anyone thats not a professional rider. I paid 22k for my trail bike, my boss has a 45k carbon Tallboy . I can still keep up with him. Go figure I train more in the gym(spinning and light weights, and training on the road for base mileage)The funny thing is Im havin more fun cause he cant undertstand why his bike doesnt make him go faster. Mmmmmmmm
  5. I did, he said R5000 for the prescription lenes alone - My new adidas Rx ready full presciption photochromic lenses with Adizero frames are costing me R2100 There is now way I would get anything like that from rudy project- Youre paying for the name, its funny that there are so many sales on Rudy glasses Please dont think Im havin a go at you, but they are just way overpriced.
  6. I have to agree, very overpriced stuff - Nice to look at, but not worth the money. Was quoted R7000 for prescription lenses & frames You wonder for that price how much better can the lenses actually be then say Ray Ban(who still supply the US airforce, Mmmmmm)
  7. Nice looking, very expensive, overpriced - still wont make you ride better See,https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/83300-dropped/page__st__20__p__1153890__fromsearch__1#entry1153890

    Dropped!

Just proves what we all failed to realise, the bike has nothing to do with it.
  9. To busy taking bribes and stuffing thier faces with coffee & donuts.
  10. Eish, was thinking that some parts dont look right on the frame, although I think thats how they come. Nice work though
  11. Silverback Saturn 2011 model, have thought about the Phoenix as well(bit out the price range what with helmet, shoes, and bits and pieces) Just sold an old frame I had for R3000 so will cost me almost nothing Its for the wife
  12. Makes me laugh that they havent tried to put normal pedals on Unless his brother has clip in shoes?(which i very much doubt)
  13. What are you doing, that a thesis needs to be done on a multitool? (Product design)
  14. Thats what I cant understand, they are standard, but how was that standard achieved - Has oe was there actual scientific research in to it, ok the 29" maybe I can understand a bit coming from a road bike & hybrid bikes - But maybe a 28" wheel would achieve all the same things as a 29" wheel, but be obviously lighter and would definatly handle better in technical single track and tight switch backs.
  15. Ive managed a best price of R5000 so far from one LBS - Not bad Lets see what I can do on Monday when I call places back too see if they would better prices, also mentioning who the competition was seemed to get an instant 10% discount at the LBS. Amazing the best price was from the shop initially charging the most. Mmmmm Lets see if they will also do discounts on helmet & other equipment.
  16. Nice one Covie - We all need to be this assertive. Obviously maintainingg ones own safety
  17. This may seem like a stupid question, what with the 29" wheels becoming more popular, but how did the get to this size, why not a 30" or 28" . Then it got me thinking, how & why did they settle on 26"?
  18. Lets just say it is at a major shopping centre in the Durban area - And its not Gateway.
  19. I still cant believe that I was told by them that 24 speed was being phased out only to then be told that " that has too be entry level bikes, so why would the phase them out" Not what your guys told me before when I was thinking of upgrading my old 24speed hardtail - Another funny thing. Been phoning around on prices this morning(Siverback Saturn 2011- small) and the best price so far has been the intenet company, www.bicyclesforsale-sa.co.za, they are R600 cheaper then one of my LBS and the cheapest bike store has been R5250(Cape Town store) but will still need to get the bike sent to me - a further R270. So off to do some barginning - If anyone knows a shop that could beat those prices please do tell - Ill definatly give them my money rather Lets see who will want my business and do the best deal? Do you think they will play ball?
  20. I did that yesterday, as soon as I mentioned the prices that I had been qouted for the new GT, Scott, Merida it almost incenced the shop owner even further( kinda like it was take it or leave it, there was no bargaining) - Funny thing is I bought my bike from them and Ive since spent loads of money in there already. Now they can whistle Dixie for any further business from me. I'll just have to drive a further 15 mins to another bike shop - So be it. Im was just pi$$ed at all the shop workers & owners arrogance and lies basically.
  21. NO other comments - Am I being crazy or is this how you should deal with a customer about to spend money in your shop on a new bike & accessories
  22. Excuse the rants, but I need to vent some frustration about my local bike store. First Rant: Arrogance and attitude will not give you my hard earned cash. Im sorry but because I ask too questions does not mean you can have an attitude with me, then show complete arrogance when I question your answers casue they dont make much sense too me - Thats the last time I spend any money there, ever. So much so I have three diiferant people all being the same, right from the most junior sales person right through to the owner. Talk about apple not falling far from the tree. Second Rant: Older models vs Newer models - Surely the price of the older model should come down if the 2011 model comes out better specked then the first. Then when I question why Im told a load of bollocks about the bikes already being paid for etc etc, blah blah blah. We all know there is an already massive mark-up on that bike, so for you not to even offer a small discount, blows my mind . The newer models are way better specked and are 27 speed as opposed to 24 speed. Yet I must pay the same price??? (Your'e off your head mate) Spouting rubbish about a lower end market blah blah blah. Then I would have gone to Game for that kind of bike. Third Rant: I was told by this stores expert sales people that they are phasing out 24 speed components about a month ago, just so they could get me too upgrade my bike to 27 speed through them(like that would ever happen, even before today, what with your already over the top prices) Then this i when I get an arrogant owner wonder over, butt right in, and tell me in no uncertain terms will the older models come down in price, and that there will always be a market for 24 speed bikes . Then just wonder off again, when I start to ask questions he didnt like. So am I being over the top? I dont think so, Im a consumer that was ready to do business with you then you show me so much contempt, that the only future dealings you will have with me will be from my doctor removing my shoe out your arse. So any advice will be greatly appreciated on how to deal with this I will name and shame on the opinions I recieve If its deemed nescessary
