  1. I would say go with what feels better to ride for yourself(frame geometry), parts can always be upgraded along the way, although the Silverback is probably better specked.
  2. What are the prices on both bikes?
  3. I didnt think that either - go ask the neighbours in your full cycling kit, helmet and all
  4. Maybe try you LBS, they normally have one
  5. I managed to get a R1000 saving on the bike from the initial price request - how does a shop manage to do that?Plus I mangaed to get a further 15% off on a helmet. Now are they still making profit on this bike? I would say they are.
  6. Ive just got a grand off & 15% off a helmet on a brand new 2011 bike - Go figure - and the wife may just get even more off from another shop - Now whats that telling me - Their margins are huge for discounts
  7. I wouldnt say he started MTBing - maybe perfected it. Also he only used what he had lying about to make the 29" wheels, if he had 28" wheels lieing around it would be the 28" revolution now
  8. It was in response to your comment about local bike shop owners.
  9. Its all hype anyway - wait till the mud gets stuck into the cassettes
  10. YEAH, one of the few decent shops - good advice from them
  11. I paid 20k for mine, still payin it off, managed to add it too the car loan Was the only way I could afford it. Yet I dont have my own home a 1 car - Thank god the wife gets a company car and, and is earning twice as much as she first was, when we originally came back to SA from the UK. Otherwise cycling would not be a hobby, she has made sacrifices to make me happy - Now its my turn
  12. Best price was from CycleShere
  13. What differance does it make where you live? I should be the same all over the world - comparitive salaries vs cost of living. Yet I was ablt to get everything cheaper while living in the UK.
  14. Thats the problem, all LBS stores of lost sight of why the run/own bicycle shops. Im not saying they cant have decent salaries or earn a decent living etc, but they still charge over the top. It starts with the agents bringing the bikes/parts in. That makes sense to anyone but these bike shop owners - Yet they still take the piss - They can kiss my butt for any more of my money. I wont even take my bikes to them for a service - They rip you off for everything. Funny how NOT one bike shop owner/agent will step forward and justify the prices they charge. I mean how does a price drop from R5600 to R5000 in a the space of 10 mins. Just cause I asked and said another shop was doing the same bike for R5100
  15. I went through, three sales people before the store owner came and gave his 2c of rubbish, they all spin the same rubbish(they must ALL go through the same training in how to talk bullsh!t)
  16. Yeah right, always something to blame the price fixing on - Still dont understand how they are able too afford such fancy cars, and lifestyle selling bikes . Good friends of mine in the UK own a bike shop and they dont live the lifestyle the guys here do. Someone explain that for me
  17. Im in, always wanted to do a toti toyi, waving seatposts and cranksets
  18. I was tlod by my LBS that in no undcertain terms will the 2010 models come down in price even though the 2011 model is the same price and way better specked - How does that work? It makes no sense, just shows how the prices were fixed or there is colluding going on. I bet they are still fixing the prices -We need an agent or shop to start palying the game, lower prices all aroud will inevatabily mean more sales.
  19. So it us that is increasing the prices, dont but it the prices will come down - You would think, it all supply & demand.
  20. I agree 100% with this, It will help to a certain degree, but I think it a small degree
  21. I agree with this totally, well in this country it is an elitist sport. Not many toffs or people with money in the UK get involved with it, from my experiences. But do you really think they increase prices to make these people think they are the higest ape in the tree. A comment mentioned the other day, about guys not having lights on their 30k plus road bikes made me think quite a bit - Most of these guys are over weight middle aged men, yet they dont want to put lights on their bikes cause it may add a few grams and doesnt look good, forget safety
  22. Thats what I cant understand, in relation to a car & motorbike, where there has to be more R&D done(safety etc etc) Yet we still are forced to pay these prices. IT doesnt make sense at all
  23. Good job , thats the kind of answer that makes sense. Im just wondering if 28" would be better then the whole 29" revolution, the bike manufacuters just got lazy from what I understand. They used what was lieing about as too opposed to rather doing research into it.
  24. Great movie - Clint Eastwood is cool as f&%"k
