  1. Consider it done.
  2. Thanks James. If it's Friday, you will have company. I'll be the noisy one in a funny hat.
  3. To say they have failed in the first year after pine removal is a bit premature don't you think? "Some doubt exists that SANParks have the necessary skills to do the burns." You do know they plan to burn the lower slopes tomorrow. Should I keep the hose handy? Care to elaborate on who?
  4. Mike Mol has the same story about Vasbyt but a week before launching his new Doctors series... eventually went bionic!
  5. Re available choppers, it depends on who is phoned in these cases. I forget the names but the two main groups are linked to their own choppers. So I went to see EMT in Plumstead to setup a system where, if they were the respondents, they would be able to contact either group to make use of the 1st available chopper. They have this cornered because they have no affiliation to a hospital group, they operate as freelancers with the right to use either of the main group's facilities. EMT! 0860 EMT EMT
  6. Indeed thanks to those who supported you and your dad! Please keep us posted on his condition.. I know the spot! Will have a look.
  7. I have been talking to Parks today and no mention of the incident.
  8. That's a resounding yes... gets quite wild the faster the wheel spins
  9. Call me crazy but would it not make more sense to have the second valve on the opposite side of the rim? http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/images/WheelWeights.jpg
  10. Rad! Hmm, beefy like Bovril!
  11. if that's the case.. expect a slow uptake. PS I forgot about the race today.. may bail on the ride..
  12. Another reminder.
  13. "Proprietary hubs are the only option for the RS-1 " - Really?!
  14. I like it too. I'd only prefer the shock is turned around and fit to match the lines of the bike.. disturbs the designer in me
  15. Actually I have a problem with their designation.. it's been done before. What that table shows is: from left, xc/trail/freeride/dh. Not that different when you add normal words. But, the colours! Now that changes everything.. Pantone references to boot. Hmm, very technical. Hookless beads, must surely rely on a tighter fit.. expect a new standard of tyres soon.
  16. Heavens no! Did they not even take a glimpse at the forums before heading off to the lab?? Actually, are these being market for XC/Trail? Would be nice to know where they fit in in terms of strength.. I would expect an eyelet'ed version to be next, made and sold specifically for ENDURO No bead? Curiouser and curiouser.
  17. Mmm, yes, nice, everything I love in a wheel but I feel cold left standing outside..
  18. What happened to your holiday?? Did your kids gang up on you?
  19. Only coz you cant reach the bonnet. Happy with your forecast!
  20. Really, has it changed that much? Pity.. but the rain in winter will bring welcomed changes, surely. Actually this area was due for some work, mainly the step up root. The plan was be to set rocks in the ground before the root providing traction for the rear wheel but still lower than the root for those who don't shy away from a challenge. Will check on this..
  21. There were complaints and as far as I know was filled in from the Silvermine side, possibly even by Parks. Access I think is no longer needed on that road, it has narrowed in places that will not support vehicles any longer, certainly not without serious reconstruction.
  22. I'll explain why this is an issue. The trouble with guys taking action themselves is that if anything happens to a rider as a result of the changes, it will reflect poorly on the activity. For an injury, someone will need to be accountable especially when a pole with wire is installed in the trail. It now means there is a constructed "feature" that requires a maintenance schedule. Yes, it does... Insurance has required every constructed feature to be specced and a schedule of maintenance provided.. if someone slips on the pole today, and this is not detailed in the maintenance report, the accountability will lie with Parks as this was built without consent and not by the group with a contractors permit, who is TokaiMTB only.. Adhoc trail construction without permission, you can imagine is not needed, especially while we are in the final straight with securing a bright future of working together with TMNP for better facilities. For the other features currently found on the mountain, I have in the last 2 months documented what needs repair and what is to be removed. This is at least noted and conforms with the quarterly trail report and will be carried out asap, starting with bridge repair on Vasbyt! We are trying to create communication channels, i.e. Twitter/Facebook/the Hub/Warthogs etc.. If there is a problem, tell someone..
