  1. Er.. you clearly have no idea what lengths guys will go to for a tickle.. Don't google "stupid things guys do"
  2. You be the judge, here's exhibit B. I saw the 4 legged species pulling the new signs apart but I cannot testify that I saw them cause damage to all the signs. Directional trails are an emotional thing, those who say "just make it x" are not taking the full picture into account. Diverts are similarly not "just" built. Nor can the font "just" be changed. All these wishes are subject to a process and history has shown that not everyone is happy to wait for the result. (Now it's vertical )
  3. ..if the two legged baboons are not ripping the signs off, the 4 legged baboons are eating them. The newest set of signs are gone. One sign indicating no cycling in the direction of up the berm is still in place and can be found on the old fence post at the exit chute of this section. The intermediate signs addressing this urgent issue was met with what I can only describe as.. stupid. See below. 16: Language I have no idea why this is on its side.. ??
  4. Yes please, if you can, (and you can) avoid the soft clay.. do not ride on the new stuff, pretty please, like the kind you get with cherries, sprinkles and crushed pistachio nuts on top. What a waste it will be to have all the new features damaged before it can set. Tell all your friends...
  5. I'll be back there again a bit later.. have you asked the ranger at the gate yet?
  6. Hahaha! Ok, I'll pass them on.. ED: He seems fine, just in a lot of pain when walking. I work from home so he sleeps right next to me. The long stares I get makes me think he's happy with this arrangement.
  7. Hey Tim, this is probably for another thread but I sympathise with your friend's loss and totally understand your frustration at the ticketing for swimming in the dam. What are the chances?! The fact that he is prosecuted by the people who ironically he would have wanted protecting him must leave a very bitter taste.
  8. Almost empty 5L paint tin? That whole head went right in.. I'm only thinking this coz I rescued The Flea last night from a head stuck in an almost empty glass of water.. He does look somewhat goofed, keep an eye on that guy
  9. Much better this morning actually, thanks for asking.. Keeping the bandages off for a while, seems he is wanting to lick less so will see how it goes. Licking keeps the wounds clean and he's the only one that can touch his feet comfortably but I saw he was getting carried away exposing the bones in his foot, and yesterday even licking through an artery! The sprays on the wall alerted me to find the foot bleeding uncontrollably. This morning seems a bit better, keeping him in sight, hoping the wounds get a chance to dry a bit. Seabea, Nugget? Sorry to hear..
  10. You need to find out if he rides Tokai, he may understand.. actually on second though don't, it could be him found bleeding on the floor!
  11. I've always had the notion that suppliers of said litter should be responsible to educate.. of course I am talking about the segment who have the ability to care about litter and its side effects. GU should be advertising social responsibility in order to keep our business. Same for KFC, McShit, Wimpy, all the big offenders. Call it green tax.. Actually, add Stans, Slime, etc and the all inner tube manufacturers too..
  12. Thanks for the wishes all. About to tackle the feet again before taking my youngest bi-ped to the human vet. Quietly freaking out..
  13. You have no idea how fitting that pic is..!! Juno has spent half is life staring into a pool willing the ball or pinecone to come closer! The other half has been catching the ball or pinecone..
  14. I can't even tell what the diagnosis is. The side affects of whatever it was that triggered it was a haemolytic anaemia and that's what the vet landed up treating. Trouble was, conventional treatment could not keep up with the production of white blood cells, so an immunosuppressant used in treating cancer was eventually added. The warning I got when the meds were handed over was startling. No woman was ever to touch the tablet.. You know when the doc looks you directly in the eye he means business. I could see this was no joke... The red blood count was down to 12 when "normal" levels are around 35. When i phoned on Monday to say Juno was still around, the vet said, "He's made it!"
  15. Not a happy household at the moment, almost lost Juno. Up to 19 tablets per day at his worst.. immune suppressants, cortisone, vitamins, antibiotics.. etc. Because of his condition and the rate his blood was clotting, the vet gave him a 50/50 chance to survive that week. Amazingly the meds helped but with the high doses and poor blood flow the negative side affects took hold in his feet. His feet were so badly infected from tissue damage, his toes just fell off preceded by a distinct smell of gangrene. Back on meds he went.. For the last few weeks my days have basically been disinfecting, dressing and dosing. I'm not even going to mention what this has cost, it's certainly a lot less than the value of what he means to us.
  16. "Is it possible/ practical to have two lines down the Mamba rock gardens?" Something gnarly is still planned for the Mamba slope.. Mamba's Bite still needs to be constructed and will run through the now really rocky area accessed from the top 3rd of Mamba to rejoin in the lower 3rd again. It will carry a black grading.. If you had come to a build day you would've known.. tee hee.
  17. Don't worry you won't be flamed, you are correct. Would be nice to have a few drops on the trail but nothing hectic. I found a good supply of the right shaped rocks for that section so it should slowly take shape over the next week or two.. iRide assisted on the day, thanks (and sorry) again Dan! And Marko35s, thanks for the rescue..
  18. There are worse corners with zero visibility. And you've not ridden the bridge since it was fixed on Thursday last week?
  19. the fairy is bi
  20. 1. Exec decision was made. Many/all of the downhill pointing trails will be one-way down only except for Vasbyt where it will be down right-of-way. This will be signposted at the bottom for clear understanding when entering for the uphill trip. It was agreed that this trail will become down only until a last minute call was made to keep the status bi with preference given to descending riders. The reason is that to cut off a popular uphill route without an option/alternative would be a tough rule to enforce. When new uphill designated trails are approved, it will switch in direction. 2. "Ja a bit of laterite, here and there... but I am talking about packed stone like the now famous corner in the Cobra trail..." - my sentiment exactly for areas with steep descents. 3. Parks already said no with a look that said, "really?!"
  21. Not the first I've heard that suggestion...
  22. Met with signage sponsor yesterday. We've been testing a cage for a few weeks and it has stood up to some serious abuse. 20 cages will be manufactured in the first batch and due for the DH. The remaining signs for all other trails are being assembled and you will see the blanks being put in the ground soon. The signs will go in as the cages are read,. so not long to go... Regarding the stone, you are right Moretrails. Yesterday's inspection proves that anything steeper than flat will need reinforcing combined with laterite to last.. No quick fixes here!
  23. In winter it makes perfect sense to carry a light, even if it is only for coming down the hill. I must stress the safety factor as well. Please ensure you are NOT alone if planning a 5pm ride. Carry the strongest light you can get your hands on and ride in groups of no less than 3.. NB: leave no valuables in your car!!
  24. Great! I have extra tools.
  25. Will try for the morning.. early! Plan to be there until 11.30am and if job not complete, again from 2pm.
