  1. Likewise also tested positive in December. I was lucky though. Bounced back really fast with no side effects. Right now we need to just stay motivated, positive and keep training until they make a call. No point in getting stressed out before the announcement gets made.
  2. Really holding thumbs that this one goes ahead! Im nicely fit and been putting in the hours. Its my first one so really hoping for the best. Although realistically I dont think the chances of it going ahead are very good. Especially after seeing that Around The Pot and Knysna Cycle Tour got the boot.
  3. Gents what are good glasses for cycling at night? I see some okes ride with yellow lenses. Does it make a difference? I wear contact lenses and my eyes are prone to drying out. So I need to keep the wind off them. Any tricks to stop them misting up when riding with a buff?
  4. Hi guys I have see there are a number of "Trans Talk" videos. However the only one that is available to watch is episode 1. If you google it you find plenty of other episodes but its says they are not available. So is there somewhere I can find them or have they condensed all the episodes into the one video which have linked on the website?
  5. Gents I need some of your expert advice. Myself and two mates are training for our very first Trans Baviaans in August this year. We are fairly fit. 2 of us did a 153km (2000m elevation) Fund Raiser ride a month ago and found it fairly comfortable with an average speed of just over 21kmph. Having a business to run and a wife with 4 children means training time requires planning. At the moment I am able to put in around 10 hours a week on average. That is 2-3 rides in the week with one longer ride on the weekend. Now as winter draws closer its going to get more challenging but I will cross that as it comes. My question to you is: what sort of training should we focusing on now??? We are doing the Around The Pot 100miler event in July. Any advice would be most appreciated.

    Shaving

Im a big fan of the clippers. Iv found cooler (as in temp wise) and more comfortable. Anyone claiming aero reasons etc is talking trash. Its a sign of your committment and dedication to being a cyclist. Also I take clippers up higher. Be careful though. Reason for this: if you mow the lawn the yard looks bigger. Now you can get out the shower and have a 'tada' moment when the wife walks past. Its just better presentation boys.
  7. Maxxis Ikons Best tyre ever!

  9. Did the 4 Peaks Challenge yesterday in George. What an amazing ride. Final preparation ride before we take on our first Attakwas Extreme!
  10. Guys I have a silly question so please forgive my inexperience. With regard to seeding index. I haven't done many events as I have only been cycling for a year. I did the CTCT, Knysna Bull, and the Knysna Cycle Tour last weekend. The aim being to get a fairly good seeding for Karoo to Coast later this year. When you look at your index, they give you a number. Are we trying to get that number as low as possible or as high as possible? And for a amateur cyclist hoping for a decent batch at K2C what number index am I aiming for. How does this thing work? Seems like you need a degree to understand it.
  11. Question for the guys living in Cape Town. Which weather site do you guys find the most accurate? Obviously with focus now being on CTCT especially on the wind. I know there are going to be those who will say "just wake up, look outside and go ride". I get that. But I'm a nerd, and I like to know, so humor me here. I live in George, and here Yr.no can be a bit off sometimes. Your help is most appreciated!
  12. Stunning loop down to Glentana this morning with my boy, Dad and good mates. Beautiful buffalo with a calf right along the road. Crazy how many okes were on the road dusting off the cobwebs for CTCT. Then we don't seem them again till March next year!

  15. The Grootbrak Grabadoo a few days ago was super fun! A good warmup for the mini Atta in a few weeks time. Cycling for the LOVE YOUR NUTS FOUNDATION and making a difference one nut at a time.
  16. I hate to wake up an old topic and being 6 years later, who of you still use Game? I tried it few days ago for a ride and found it rather pleasant.

  19. George Dam bright and early before work. I absolutely love this playground right in our back yard! Just cant get enough of it!
  20. A lovely ride up Montagu Pass and over into Herald. A quick stop at the local coffee shop followed by a gentle ride back. Always a stunning route to ride, this time however very sad to see the damage done by the fire, especially seeing the Tol Huis completely destroyed.
  21. Botlierskop in Groot Brak. An absolute gem in paradise. Stunning ride and ending it off with a coffee while 3 breathtaking rhinos quietly graze in the background.
  22. I actually gave them a call yesterday after I entered and had not received anything. They had my fathers email address on the Racetec system from when he entered us into the Knysna Cycle Tour a few months ago. I just gave them my email address and a few seconds later received my conformation of entry. Give them a call, they are really friendly and very happy to help. I recon they are pulling serious amps with litterally thousands of entries pouring in. Its my first time so I cannot wait! Plan is to get well fit enough to able to enjoy and not bleed through it to the end.
  23. Its such a breathtaking ride. The climb is a burner though. No matter how many times you ride it that last 2km puts in the pain. Stopped for pancakes at the Old Tolhuis on the way down which is now open on Sat morning. A pancake and coffee never tasted so good!
  24. Montagu Pass in the Garden Route. Stunning climb and the views are breathtaking!
