  1. Lekke event on 27th those interested in riding. Gravel bike friendly. Beautiful route!
  2. 2h30! Super human effort! You can only admire the power! Interesting day tomorrow with not much space to atrack.
  3. What an incredible event! It's easy to see why this is regarded one of the top events in South Africa! The organisation is on another level. Everything you want is right there. Woolworths did the catering and it was superb! As far as the riding goes it is absolutely mind-blowing! We started in batch H and had a great day. For the second and third stage we moved up to batch C. It was really nice riding with that group as there's very little pushing. It's flat taps from the start. Squirt was amazing and really looked after us from the moment we got there! We were spoilt rotten with lots of kit and product etc.
  4. Absolutely! Nothing we can do about the weather anyway. Going to pack my gear today. I was given a great tip by a friend with loads of stage races behind her to pack all your stuff into Ziplock bags. Lable each bag. It makes total sense and I think the extra effort will be well worth it. We leaving tomorrow morning after the manditory swob up the snoz. Super grateful to Squirt for making this happen for us! It's a massive privilege!
  5. Yes we are coming down for the chardonnay. Which app are you using? I've been looking at yr.no and also WindGuru. I don't know that area at all so not sure which sites are the most accurate. It definitely seems like the wind is going to give us a hard time.
  6. Rocking our shirts for stage 1! RideLife George. So stoked to represent arguably of the best bike shops in SA. Only a few more days to go.
  7. So far the long range weather prediction looks pretty good! After the icy conditions at TB it will be wonderful to have a warm event!
  8. Final seeding/ batches schedule to be released tomorrow! I'm pretty sure given the lack of races I have done in the last year my seeding is going to be wrecked! But we will see it as a good opportunity to chase down some of the boys in front of us. This time next week we are on the way to Cape Town!
  9. The way i understand it is that you can buy the bag as an extra. I was lucky enough to purchase 2 of the large W2W bags that were being sold here on the hub. Got them for a good price and the bags are unbelievable! The bags are huge but that said theres also alot to take with.
  10. Is registration at Lourensford or will it be in Hermanus?
  11. Exactly 14 days to go gents! Im feeling great & super excited! Did some hill repearts evening on one of our local favourites (5.5km long @ 5%) See you boys soon!????
  12. Matt is on form and his intentions are clear. I cant wait to watch this drama unfold.
  13. Likewise man! I'm a proper lightweight! I literally smell alcohol and I fall over. Non-alcoholic beer for the win! Same great taste and no nasty effect. ????
  14. Where did you see this? I went to look on the website but couldnt find it.
  15. Its interesting to note this must be one of very few events in the country that everyone who's done it only has only good things to say about it. The struggle these events companies face is that you can never make everybody happy. Somebody is always going to complain about something. It appears W2W is the exception. I can hardly wait!
  16. We actually very privileged to have gotten the entry to W2W by winning Squirt competition on Instagram! It was so funny we were on a ride and after seeing the w2w logo on someone's shirt discuss how awesome it would be to ride the event. I got home to find a few missed calls and a message from the lady at Squirt. We have come out of Trans Baviaans so the fitness levels are exactly where they need to be. I still can't believe that we are actually going! I'm struggling to contain my excitement! Reading this thread just makes me so much more excited!
  17. I couldn't find a thread on this year's Wine2Whales so I thought I would go ahead and create it. We are doing our first one this year (riding the chardonnay) and I cannot contain my excitement! I have heard countless stories of how amazing the event is. I think the most daunting part for me is the camping side of things. What to take, what not to take etc. Really excited for the cycling though! #gees
  18. Worth every cent! Expensive yes, but you wont be sorry.
  19. Ciovita for the win! Keep a look on OneDayOnly, every now and again they have specials. I got a bib on special last week for R1300 (normal price R1800). The bibs are all brilliant! I rode the last Trans Baviaans and my bum was the least painful part of my entire body.
  20. Not a purchase but still freaking out about winning the W2W Squirt competition on Instagram! W2W Chardonnay here we come!
  21. Anyone out here got a W2W duffel bag they would like to sell? Looking for one fairly urgently. Please feel free to whatsapp me on 081 018 2552
  22. I changed from Ikons to Ardent Race 2.35 tyres about 8 months ago. Never looked back. Very happy.
  23. Iv always used Bell helmets and love them. Good value and having had a few nasty falls have served me well.
  24. We did it a few weeks ago in prep for TB this past weekend. Its a fantastic ride. We parked our car at Karusa Wine Estate. We did a loop through town out towards Calitzdorp, then turned right on the maatjiesvalie (excuse spelling) road. That keeps going until you get to T junction. Turned right there on the tar road. It spits you out a Kobus se Gat. From there is a lift turn and up the pass. The pass itself is in great condition. The road is smooth and well maintained. Its a long drag all the way to the top but its not so bad. Regardless of the weather its usually pretty cold at the top to keep that in mind. You welcome to have a look at my Strava account (Warren Moult) for the route. Safety isn't as issue. Just be careful on the pass, if you over cook a corner and go off the road you going to get hurt real bad. Its a very steep drop off.
