  1. Cool Rae should be fun, The number of technical sections that a trail bike will benefit you is not that many compared to the number of miles you climb and ride on the flat, so definitely a XC with like 120mm travel is norm these days, tire choice is a bigger issue!
  2. Single entry available, contact me - SOLD

  13. Anybody know of any custom frame builders in SA, steel, alu or Carbon - mtb and road!?!? Or local courses one can do to learn!?!?
  14. Anybody got some idea how to get a Rock Shox Monarch 4.2 new on bike to staop leaking, very slowly over extended period of time from little pump nosle on top by the look of things??
  15. Been riding with the Elite Carbon for more than a year now and not bad at all the standard pads they come with are not great but changed those when required and made a big diff. Other potential problem is the little plungers in the levers get sticky, so when you pull the lever it does not jump back, little oil spray and all good, could be the dry dusty conditions in JHB and washes in the wet season. But apart from that good, brakes no other problems
  16. Hi, Noticed this weekend that my XX brakes have some sticky pods, so if you pull the brake lever only the one side pushes the pad to the rotor. Anybody out there know how to fix this??
  17. What's the weight of the frame including the back shock?
  18. I have seen some websites in the USA with 300oz size bottles so couple gram, around the same size as the big bombs you get the 41g ones, they have a one way valve on so easy refill and seal
  19. I run 2 x 9, 40/28 and 11-34 back and do xc and marathon on these, could maybe have used a 40/26 at the SA Champs with those very steep climbs but ...
  20. Does, anybody know of any refillable CO2 bottles or like. As it break my heart having to through away these CO2 bombs after used - i have looked at some paint ball stuff but nobody that i have asked have come back with anything! What if any has anybody else seen out there that could work?
  21. Ok, this is why the question - but basics are if you change your chain before a set amount of stretch 1% then you can ride your cassette for much longer!! and If you leave it to go for more than 1% then you will need to change your cassette!
  22. Thanks, should have mentioned for MTB - road is completely diff. I use a park ruler for checking the chain, and look after my chains well - 1000km is an estimate but it's about every 3months or less and i do 50% of training on road. also depends on the weather conditions i ride in and the last couple of months in JHB has been wet and muddy some rides
  23. I have been using cheaper chains and changing them every 1000km or so and have had about 6 on my current cluster. What are the experiences out there on cheaper chains versus the more expensive chains - is it just the weight you pay for or durability??
  24. I, would check with Kiwi (wayne) www.planet-x-bikes.co.za he has the best 29er options
  25. Cool, did you go 10spd in the back?
