  1. Awesome, I stopped looking before then I guess
  2. This, I've been trying to get more info on this forever. Website says more info on FB, FB says more info on website.
  3. I'm going to go with you're still missing his point... What a company has to do going into the 4th IR and their margins on products/services are not the point. People wanting to pay for a high school graduate but expecting the knowledge and expertise of an engineer with a masters degree and at least 10 years of experience is the point.
  4. Read up about it here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/162412-riding-at-suikerbosrand/page-32?do=findComment&comment=3539879
  5. Don't think he was complaining that they were busy and couldn't service his bike right then and there - was probably more about how they approached it. I often go into my LBS without making a booking and they always find out what I need before either fixing it or politely informing me that it will unfortunately have to wait till later in the week or the next week.
  6. I dunno hey, there are a lot of people with more money than ability...
  7. Conties Blue route in the calm before the storm on Sunday morning.
  8. Spez Enduro, Spez Epic Evo and Trek Fuel EX
  9. Must be different people then. Checked on the website 2nd men's team, 5th overall.
  10. Might be, honestly don't know haha. They finished 2nd today apparently.
  11. A beautiful Pyga which probably isn't that beautiful anymore after today Side note: can't imagine riding 30-40 km with questionable brakes in those conditions.
  12. Buddy of mine who finished quite well...
  13. And how many athletes aren't vegan? So what exactly is your point? Do they maybe have experience in being a bike mechanic?
  14. Here's a thought, you eat what you want, I'll eat what I want, everyone else will eat what they want and we can all go out enjoy our bikes without telling each other what to eat. One thing I can guarantee though, turning vegan or watching some stupid propaganda movie ain't going to help me one bit with being my own bike mechanic.
  15. Very retro looking new hoods for my roadie. Groupset is an 11+ year old Ultegra and the hood (which has been looking sketchy for years) finally tore during a service at the beginning of August. Got told by everyone that they can't be replaced and I'll need to find second hand ones somewhere or compatible replacement shifters. It may have taken 3 months but my LBS managed to find the impossible for a mere R30 - and because my bike sat there for so long they decided to write off the charges for the service as well.
  16. If you can't ride 5x 4m sections in a 60km race that's hardly a reason to go flats over SPDs. Unclip and walk those, enjoy the efficiency over the remaining 59.98km.
  17. Went up the mast at Bloemendal on Sunday, due to a late start did most of the climbing in some serious heat, but the views and the downhill as well worth it. Also went to have some fun at Lombard's after, fortunately didn't hear about and didn't run into the Cobra that other hubbers have mentioned.
  18. I completely accidentally managed to ride down it the other day. I say accidentally because while riding with a whole bunch of friends who'd never been up there before, at the mast, I remembered this thread and made the point that we must walk across the cement road there. Queue following a braver person than me and only realising while riding down onto the road that I was in fact doing that. Stopped and made sure the rest of the group didn't attempt to do the same thing, wasn't keen on rushing anyone to the ER. Edit: spelling
  19. Same, and it still looks and works as good as it did the day I got it.
  20. Noted. Not relevant anymore for me as the existing trails provide more than enough variety and challenge. This was years ago when I was getting back into MTB after 10 years out.
  21. In the past I did cycle off trail on one of the farms (with the landowners permission) got quite a bollocking from a member who noticed and chased me vigorously up the hill. His motivation was good but his approach was terrible - but then again, how does he know that what I'm saying is true, or I am who I say I am. It is always going to be a sticky situation but in general most issues can be avoided if we approach everyone - even those we feel are in the wrong - with some common courtesy. If the response you get is in the range of "Get F%&^@D" then by all means have at it.
  22. Sincere apologies I didn't realise that you meant it that way. I should heed my own advice and also not immediately jump to conclusions Seems to often be the case, one bad apple spoils it for the rest of us.
  23. I didn't throw my toys out the cot complaining that the club should do better, I was merely stating that it made me sad, which is a feeling I'm entitled allowed to have. I'm sure there are reasons, I've asked and not gotten an answer. It is what it is and I'll abide by it, doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. I'm well aware and very thankful that the club bends over backwards to give us access to awesome trails and respect that not everything can be achieved. The only person acting entitled here is you. If you know so much maybe you should share with the rest of the class instead of immediately jumping to labels.
  24. Link to your Strava club you mean. Also the route on your events seems to be the opposite way to what PPA have been saying.
  25. The riding times for the traverse make me sad can cycle out to the trails without worrying about cars after work but have to cycle back while fighting for space with the backend of rush hour.
