  1. Been doing both roadie and MTB, but like my photo, my wife reckon I looks kinda cool with the shades and afdakkie! And I listen to my wife.
  2. All more reason to wear a black armband this Sunday. Condolences to the family of this hero!
  3. I'll just stay at home and service what needs to serviced.
  4. If you don't have the legs, you have achieved nothing, was what a buddy told me once on this same discussion of our bikes. Pretty much the same as ........................does size matter
  5. Two bricks Weet bix with some raisins been working for me for a long time. Even with the ex-Argus years, stayed the same, and it worked, with date balls as well on the road.
  6. This is so wrong! I am biting on my tongue to say what I want. Rest in peace Frans and Janine, you have entered your eternal journey! You will never be forgotten! May all of you who were at this tragic scene, also find peace and strength to continue.
  7. The only thing you have to feel terrible about, is the fact there are many more lying on their couches doing nothing, but that is their problem. You do not have to feel a thing, great stuff for doing the right thing, just enjoy the ride!!
  8. Hang on, I just wanna get a refill on my popcorn and cola!
  9. I think the nicest sound I ever heard, was that "ting" when the flippin one I had, dropped into the glass thingy in hospital during a "pp" session! When doc saw it, his words...."OK, you can go home now" And yes, do not talk about the pain beforehand leading to this.
  10. Sjoe, dis hectic Cois, met daai pille en gebede, gaan jy dit deurtrek! Sterkte vriend, en dankie vir die gereelde "updates" Dis altyd goed om dit te deel, selfs my vrou vra gereeld hoe dit gaan!
  11. Nah, rather Kurt Darren with "Kaptein span die seile", then the tikkop schemes you're one of them.
  12. We used a similar tool in the tyre manufacturing industry to smooth out rubber joints during tyre making process.
  13. This is was a very popular "incident".I remember when me and my brother did the "de Tour" and going throug Simonstown, there was also a lady bragging her noombies somewhere near Boulders Beach. Yeez, we nearly had a helluva ground/tar meeting. Until today we can not remember her hair colour or whether it was a short or a bikini bottom
  14. My total package is with Outsurance as well. Pricing even on having it insured as a specified item is quite good for me. I also threw in my shoes, pedals, meter, the whole set-up. Luckily not yet needed to claim.
  15. Baie sterkte Cois. Klou vas aan daardie Hand van Bo wat hierdeur sal dra, en so ook jou gesin en familie.
  16. Michael, perhaps tell us where you stay, so donators can get hold of you or decide what to give? I have a pair of standard flat pedals from my Merida as a give away, if you are within reach of Alberton.
  17. Been using Clean Green as in post #9, with some engine degreaser on the chain set-up and parts. Sunlight in my opinion is not good on painted parts, as it actually removes polish.
  18. Is it not so typical of us humans that we are so "scared" to read threads as this one. Then when you start you can not stop, and then realize how damm lucky we are, that we are still healthy! Cois, I have not met you are any of the sufferers as you, but may I wish you and your loved ones, only the best for the times ahead! We can only share your pain in our hearts and minds, but remember that you are most certainly in my daily prayers. My FIL at 90, diagnosed a couple of years ago, is still so positive, that it actually gives me a positive boost when I speak to him...."nee wat Oostys, dit gaan goed, ons kla nie" Ag no CBlake, now I also have that thing in my eye!
  19. I have never smoked in my life, apart from being "forced" to following my two kids celebration. But, I have to take my hat off to you people that do sport, and want to go the extra mile to stop smoking. My son was a smoker until two years ago, when he decided one morning - that's it! At least that is what he told us. He did his first 42k marathon last month, after many 21k's, and is pushing to do Comrades. He is my super hero! So good luck to all the forum guys and girls, all the best, and know that there are many sporting people out there supporting you in the fight to stop!
  20. As my K2C was a total disaster, I am looking at doing the Transxhariep in Feb 2020. Has anybody done this one specifically. I know it is not the K2C, but I still want to do a super distance on MTB. It looks to be quite "flattish", so it should be ok, apart from possible heat and wind?
  21. I had a Siverback,(+/-5500km) and traded it in for a Merida( currently +/-3600km) Both of them gave me no hassles. I got a damm good deal at Cajees in Centurion, both on trade in and buying the new bike.

This is such a great idea to help those that need help. Just another idea if I may. What about getting a couple of sponsored sealer containers from supportive bike outlets, and arrange a pit stop en route, and fill up tubes as they come past. I do not live close by, but it certainly is something to think about in my area. A couple of years ago Pretoria Traffic had a stop en route to work one day, where they handed out helmets and reflective jackets to bike commuters. For months afterwards I remember seeing these okes on bikes with helmets and jackets until I moved away.
  23. Karoo to Coast, need I say more!

    Karoo to Coast

So my trip ended before it really began. 1st my Left shoe sole departed from the sheeat to come. I turned around, somebody from Cycleworx helped to repair damage with Duct tape, and off I went. I had barely hit the dirt road, yip you guessed it, Right shoe gave up. The little voice in my head said, stop it, drop it, go home! I listened. From the comments above I am sort of glad I listened, for once!
