VERY happy with my 800D. The only difference is that mine has the Manitou R7 fork and SLX shifters (2010 model). Nice and light - an all-round good buy.

So I registered early on Monday morning for the Lourensford 30km. Later that day I start coming down with the mother of all colds. Feels like my head is going to explode. I've tried Corenza C, Flusin, Viral Guard - everything short of cyanide. Would it be a good idea to race on Sat or just give it a skip?

Good day all, I have a Shimano CS-HG61-9 11-34 cassette on my Merida TFS XC 800D. The bike was bought in April this year. In the last week or so I've been hearing a "clucking" noise from the rear. This morning I noticed that the cluster is loose. There is probably 3 - 5mm of play on it. Not sidedways, but front to back. Any ideas on what could cause this and what to do? The bike hasn't been serviced since I bought it and I've only done 290km. Thanks!

Or an extra large jar of Vaseline.

I bought the Tom Tom XL with IQ Routes last month. Works like a charm! To me the Garmin is a realy old-fashioned, square look to it. The TT is definitely sexier.

Anyone else get their pics posted to them? I got a notification to pick something up at the Post Office yesterday. Eventually went this morning only to find that Actionphoto had sent me 5 x A5 photo's of me with a letter saying that if I keep them, I have to pay for them. Otherwise I must send them back. Are these guys trying to make an extra buck or what? If I'd wanted them I would have ordered them off the site. I'm only in 3 of the pics!

Have at least 2 riders with you and stay alert at all times. Avoid pedestrians as it seems that these thugs frequent routes where pedestrian traffic is common. Kromme Rhee is a better option as you can get onto Helshoogte Rd and avoid the Saturday morning traffic through the Town. This route also carries less pedestrian traffic. I started out on the Merida 40D. Great bike - was not sorry about buying it at all! Had it for about 6 months and then decided to upgrade. Merida bikes are apparently know for their build quality and resale value. Now with the TFS XC-800D and more than happy. The best thing to do is try riding them all and see which one feels the best. Good luck!
