  1. Hi TreeDodger I was there yesterday and rode the track a few times (with completely the wrong bike), it was fun. The kids were all having an absolute blast and I think its fantastic for them to have somewhere like this to ride. That first jump looked rather "interesting" if you go from the top of the ramp. Keep up the great work !!!!!
  2. I have the opposite problem. I've done too much singletrack climbing (Tygerberg trails) Struggle on the flats and the jeep track climbs.
  3. You doing the race then? I'm lucky if I get 5 hours a week to train!
  4. New trails are AWESOME !!!
  5. That is relative to how fit you already are and the type of riding. How much do you normally do in a month is the question?
  6. Any excuse to stop, start, is great for me :-) Looking forward to the water crossings :-) Question is, with only a month to go, can I get any fitter or will I just do harm....
  7. Do not only have 1 set. I tried with only one pair of shorts when I did the Herald mtb race on the Sat and the road race on the Sunday. Even with the use of a hair dryer, I struggled to get my shorts dry. Maybe look at using a different set for day 2, that way you can use your branded kit on day 1, wash it and leave it to dry for day 3.
  8. From the Sani Facebook page: The 2012 route is going to be pretty much the same as last year with some very minor changes. Day 2 will no longer have "lamb legs" or "Push of a climb" and there's no big climb before reaching Jolivet, but there will be a new halfway stop. Day 3 also sports some minor changes near the finish. 3 less climbs sounds good to me :-) Question is what do they have in place of those.
  9. Which means +- 1786m's of climbing over only 61km's...
  10. Well done, 5kgs is a good amount in a few months. I managed to finish K2C in September in the heat and am fitter and strong now than I was then and day 2 is roughly the same amount of climbing so hopefully I'll be able to finish before the cut-off. If I don't, I won't be upset as they still allow you to ride the next day apparently. Only 1 month and 1 day to go before we start out journey to Underberg. Nerves are starting to set in.
  11. So how has everyones training gone? Are you fit enough? I'm a little nervous as my training has not gone to plan thanks to my knee playing up. When I was supposed to increase my riding, i had to decrease. Is it possible for a weekend warrior to finish day 2?
  12. Cape Union Mart, Outdoor Warehous, Sportsmans. They dry you pretty well, but are quite small (even the large ones) so you can't wrap them around your waist. Good thing is that they dry quickly afterwards so you don't have to use a wet towel the next time.
  13. Good to know. I won't be staying in the tents this year as the family are coming with, but next stage race I will be staying in the tents.
  14. I'm sure you are rather thankful that you were wearing a helmet.
  15. Boulders are tougher than some of the fancy bikes. Not as easy to ride on the technical stuff, but certainly capable of handling singletrack.

    Towing kids

That one looks great. Same make as the trailer I have which was top quality. My son is almost four so a litlte old for the trailer (he can still fit in it, but gets bored).
  20. its amazing how quickly people jump to conclusions and this is how rumours get started.
  21. Me too. Burry shook his hand and said thanks will he was busy talking to the press.
  22. I am getting NO work done today thanks to all of you updating.
  23. I agree with the sachets if you don't use energy drinks often. The tubs end up getting wasted as the powder goes all hard if you keep it too long. I use the Cytomax sachets - like that fact that I can use different flavours as I get sick of the same flavour. With increasing my training and race distinces, I decided to buy 32GI and have found it works really well for me on the long rides.
  24. Thats a lot of non-finishers.
