  1. Who was the Hubber who started after D that was wearing a pink and white shirt? Not convinced of the tagging system. I started a group back, tagged twice at the start and my time is out by 5 min. Looks like they have given me my original groups start time. I don't care about 5 minutes, it's the bragging rights for beating my mate in a sprint finish.
  2. Wave as you pass me, I'm in C.
  3. I'm keen on joining the Cape Town one. Loved the Teddy Bear run last year, there were so many hubbers that turned up with teddy bears on their bikes and the vibe was awesome.
  4. hmm... the 2nd one I didn't hit the ground. first left hand corner at the top of never ending at Jonkers. Luckily I landed in some branches etc that had been cleared with my new baby on top (wouldn't want her to get scratched).
  5. I have to disagree here. Since getting my 29er a month ago, I've fallen twice. First time was going up singletrack at Tokai, hit a root my 26er normally cruises over and the 29er came to a stop :-) 2nd time was a rock that I thought the wheel would roll over. You still need to be able to lift your 29er wheels up to get over obstacles and as its not quite as easy (for me) as a 26er. Edit: SP

  7. Why not do the Berg & Bush Great trek?
  8. We have had the gopro before and now have the Drift. I prefer the Drift, find it takes much better footage in changing light conditions i.e riding in and out of forests etc. Use it on the mtb and motorbike and works well on both.
  9. 2nd hand price depends on demand and the availability. Certain bikes are hard to come by new as there is just no stock around. So, someone selling a 2nd hand one will get more for it than say one of the silver Giant 29ers with all the blue bling (you see them everywhere).
  10. I've got the same problem, also with guess what... Avid Elixer's. I've tried changing brake pads, was forced to change the rotor (bent the old one too badly) and still have the same problem. It however seems to get worse when they are warm.
  11. I got the exact same problem. Mine will be fine for months and then do something stupid that requires more effort from the shoulder and it goes. Normally things like throwing my 4 year old around will do it. Also been to multiple physio's, chiro's, orthepedic surgeon (gave me a cortisone injection). Had various different diagnosis's. The most recent chiro has given me advice on strenthing my back / shoulder muscles so that my shoulder at least sits in the right place (its currently sits further forward than my left, but none of the other professionals picked it up). Problem is the exercises hurt it too much. Doesn't hurt at all when cycling, but the day after, I get a pain from my shoulder, through my neck and ear to my head. Only thing that stops it is to take anti-inflammatories / muscle relaxants.
  12. Awesome ride. Done it the last 2 years. I am a weekend warrior so it was a long slow ride (just over 7 hours), enjoyed the scenary more than the rest ;-) Best move was to stop at the Diep River which is just before one of the longest climbs. Dipped my feet in the water for a few minutes, wet my head and then filled my camel back up with the ice cold water. I ended up passing loads of people up the climb who were over heating. When i got hot again, I just poured some of the icy water down my neck and on I went.
  13. They had over 700 teams in the Adventure this year. Not sure about the other 2. Think they were also over subscribed.
  14. lol, I was also one of them. Also said I wouldn't retire my 26'er and would use it for places like Tokai, Jonkers etc and use the 29er for Knysna, K2C etc. 3 weeks in and I have fallen in love with my HT 29er and am seriously considering selling the 26'er DS.
  15. Clever that they now put it in a pouch. First trip on my hardtail and my parktool fell apart in my bag.
  16. I've sent her a msg to ask permission. I don't feel right entering another person's ID (we met for the first time on registration day).
  17. Take along a small bottle of wet lube. You'll need it if its anything like last year. My gears were crunching at the 20km mark already.
  18. One of the partners has to be someone who rode this year (which is me). The 2nd rider can be a new partner.
  19. I read somewhere (either on facebook or the website) that they have cleared the waiting list. If thats true, its going to be a mad rush again when they open up for the rest in August. Last year was chaos.
  20. Using my original partners details. My substituted partner hasn't entered so its not that.
  21. Very frustrating, my entry isn't going through. Get the error below. Looking at Facebook, I'm not the only one...grrr... Attention : If you did not participate in the 2012 event you will not be able to proceed with this entry, Entries for non 2012 riders will open mid August 2012.
  22. The wait is killing me.....
  23. You'll be able to swop with someone. Which event did you do last year and which one do you want to do this year?
  24. Train for the race, plan your leave and then pick up an entry off the hub in the month leading up to Sani. There were loads of entries for sale this year. They say we have the whole month to entry and pay, but then they also say they are cutting numbers from last year. I think there will be a huge rush on Monday to make sure of an entry. My poor bank account, I thought we would only have to pay for Sani in August.
