  1. I only use facebook and you can choose what you want others to see. I just hide most of my stuff... Its clever of them, although sometimes the guys who party the hardest on weekends are the ones that work the hardest during the week.
  2. I'm sorry, but the way some people cycle and the little respect they have for other road users is pathectic. We have a really nice cycle path on Marine Drive, but yet on the weekend, a group insisted on riding on the road and then still rode 2 abreast when there was no shoulder. This meant effectively that the two lanes had to join into one while passing them. They annoyed me as I had to wait ages to pass. If they had been riding single file, it wouldn't have been such a problem. I'm sure other road users felt like running them down. If we want road users to respect us, then we need to start respecting them as well.
  3. Cleat position can also be a big cause of ITB. i was struggling last year with my ITB. Did Knysna and literally couldn't walk afterwards. In August I got new shoes as mine were slightly too small. I tried putting the cleats in exactly the same position as before as this had been done in a bike setup. However my foot inside the shoe sat in a slightly different position. Since I changed the shoes, I have not felt the slighest twiinge in my knee. Did the Karoo 2 Coast 2 months later - 7+ hours on the bike and I was able to run after my son that afternnon without the slighest pain. I sometimes feel my hamstring getting tight which was part of the cause of my ITB, but thats just when I've pushed a ride and nothing a bit of stretching can't sort out.
  4. I also agree. The OP had his say, but then also asked if anyone else has had an issue to see if its just a once-off releated issue. Seems most people including myself are really happy with the server from Buycycle.
  5. Why not join the Outriders club? They are in the tableview area. Think they meet somewhere in Parklands on weekends and have different paced groups. Not sure if they ride during the week, but I'm sure if you joined and met some of the people, you could arrange rides during the week. As for mtbing, which is a much better option in Cape Town, I would suggest joining one of the Tygerberg mtb club rides. I've only met nice people on the club rides and the club do social evenings as well.
  6. Wow, that must have been a great surprise. Really wish I could cycle to work, but unfortunately its just not safe for a girl to cycle alone through Ndabeni.
  7. This post sounds way to much like an advert than a non-biased review, sorry. I do however use Powerbars. Had the peanut butter one at Karoo to Coast and loved it. Don't know if it did any good, but at least it tasted nice. As for 32GI, after everyone raving about it on the hub, I tried it and found it really perks me up. Not a good idea, but using it to help me work late. Better than drinking too much coffee or taking bioplus.

    See you there :-) Congrats.
  9. If only you had posted this a month ago. My rear who starting making really funny noises on the weekend to the point I aborted my ride. Got it looked at and told its needs to be serviced. Looking at my shocks manual, it specifies that you should service it once a year minimum, of course I had never even opened the manual before so didn't know that. My problem, I'm riding the Karoo 2 Coast this weekend.
  10. Assos recommend hand washing, but they provide you with a net for washing in the washing machine. Mine all go in the washing machine. However, my most recent and most expensive pair of assos shorts, I got their special washing liquid and it makes the shorts smell so nice.
  11. Now that is something we could definitely do with. Pool has overflowed once or twice...
  12. I've just put fast rolling tyres on both front and back, but I've since heard the weather pridiction is rain so not sure if I made the right choice. Possibly should have left my Captain on the front and just put a fast track on the back. Mights have some fun on the downhills.
  13. I think I would be exhausted from just riding down that pass. Looks amazing.
  14. I rode horeses as a kid and my mom used to take my saddle and bridle away. I'd just get string and make my own contraption and ride my pony like that. She couldn't lock me inside as then she would have to clean the stables / feed all the horses herself. Thats a schweeet looking bike!
  15. My concentration at work has taken a serious dive. Struggling to do anything. Thinking of all the training I need to do before next year. spending that amount of money on a race is a big motivation to get fit and enjoy it.
  16. I get it in my right leg hamstring going into my lower back. I find mostly if I'm pushing bigger gears or pushing up steep hills. Streching definitely helps.
  17. At the time of posting this I had no email. I now got my email saying congratulations!!!!! SO happy. Now if only I could edit my details and pay......
  18. I'm supposed to be on the waiting list, but don't have a waiting list number and couldn't update my details. Emailed different people and never got a response.
  19. I've got a pair of Specialized Singletracks and they are AWESOME. Haven't had issues with fogging up and can quite happily use them in full sunlight or forests.
  20. White = REALLY bad for mtbing...... Plus, the white rubbers are too soft. I've been through two sets now and will never buy white again.
  21. I've been struggling the same as you except its always my sinus. Rode the Houwhoek tour while still recovering from bronchitis, Knysna I was sick as well, damn annoying. Hoping I stay healthy for K2C. I got sick and tired of repeated sinus infections (I've been sick more than healthy this year) and finally saw a specialist and had a CT scan done. He reckons that the doctors didn't give me antibiotics for long enough to kill everything so the strong ones survived and then mutiplied making each course of anti-biotics less affective So, I've now been on a full month of anti-biotics and cortisone nasal spray - first time I can breathe a little through my nose in years. Going for a follow up CT Scan on Friday and then they will decide whether to operate (my nose is skew from breaking it and I've also got something called Polyps.). If I was you, I'd ease up on the training until K2C. Give your body time to recover fully and then you will be fresh and healthy for the ride.
  22. I just put at the end of anything I'm advertising that the first person with the cash, gets the product. I got burnt once on the hub holding "dibs" for someone who said they were definitely taking the bike. Waited 2 weeks and then they decided to take something else. In the mean time I'd lost out on other potential buys as they weren't prepared to wait for something that might already be sold. That said, certain hubbers have good reputations and in those cases, I don't mind holding dibs, but definitely not for just anyone.
  23. I don't see Burry as being someone who ride a 29er just because there is an extra carrot being dangled.

    Argus 2012

I'll be doing it again. Its my 5 one, but officially only my 4th as I forgot my timing chip the year of the storm (all the effort to not even get a time). My aim is to get to 10 so I can get my different coloured number :-)
  25. They are still talking about a 3rd race taking +- 350 entrants from race and adventure. Now if only I knew what my number is.
